Hydroplaning Setup?
Hi I've seen videos on you tube (even of the summit!) but I never heard about the setup (power system, tires suspension exedra). If you have videos I would like to see them. If you don't have any I would appreciate an approximate speed and distance.
Thanks.

not my vid... but power, speed, distance, take off, exit...all factors....

just sand tires if you want to get any distance.

Entering speed and throttle control while on the water are more important than anything else. Knobby or paddle like tires help though.
Start with a deep mud puddle before you go swimming.

Hydroplaning with an RC is alot about wheel speed and alot about drag. You dont want the truck to wheelie so high the rear of the body or the wing hit the water. You dont want to "land" into the water either. You want a smooth transition and lots of wheel speed. There are arguments that say big paddle tires are not ideal because they create too much drag. A set of knobby tires are supposed to be better, but thats not science. I water skipped my 2X4 Stampede VXL with a set of trenchers... worked good as long as you hit the water smooth and got on the gas hard. If the truck wheelied too much it would loose speed and sink. I think its as much about practice as it is about technology.

i know its cool to see them going across the water but would'nt you just rather run a boat instead? mistakes happens along each run and chances are you either sunk it in the bottom of the lake.

I couldnt imagine doing that and watching sink while Im thinking "There goes $700!!" Not worth it in my mind, but thats me.
