Esc issue.
Thinking about purchasing a used 1/16 summit that a guy locally has forsale. But He says that the esc just stopped working the car wont throttle turn or reverse, but the esc is lit up. Anything I should look at before I buy this and dig into a hole? Or just buy and see if its an easy fix? What do you guys think it could be? Thanks for the help

It could be as simple as the steering servo, but it could also be a bad esc. My 1/16 Summit esc was bad right out the box.

motor works and steering servo but the esc turns on and the light does also to but the truck wont move..... Those are his exact words sorry for the misinfornation in the first post

The servo electronics can still be bad even though it still functions.
When you go look at it, bring some tools....
pull the Rx cover and unplug the servo and give the ESC a try.
Really, either way...
a servo is like $30-40 for an upgrade
an ESC is $30-50 for an upgrade
Price the used "broken" one accordingly.
Food for thought:
I bought my current 1:1 for $3,000 below private party value because it was not running right. I knew what was wrong when I bought it.... it was a $7 gasket and about 2 hours in labor.

If the motor spins with you pull the throttle then its probably the slipper clutch or a broken gear in the tranny. Both are easy cheap fixes.
