umm well seing as its based off its big brother the summit, minus the t-lock its almost the same minus a few things, its kinda a off-road based vehicle :rolleyes:

It drives very well off road. With the long travel rockers and suspension set up, it can easily handle almost anything you put at it.

Im hoping it does good in the grass also, and hopefully we get some snow and ice this year for a little fun!!!

I had a Merv and it was loads of fun. But was limited to smoother surfaces. This summit vxl looks like it will erase those problems. I love that it can still do a standing backflip.
The bigger tires ought to allow it to perform a littler better than a MERV. Of course, a truck that small will only work on small-scale terrain.

agreed, my gravel driveway has killed my Merv suspension, I am looking forward to getting the LT rockers for the Merv/Msum conversion.
Funny, at iHobby I got a lot of questions about running on grass, and this thread mentions it as well. Honestly, grass is about the worst surface you can run any R/C vehicle on, especially smaller vehicles. It just adds so much more rolling resistance. You CAN do it, of course, but you can expect hotter components and shorter run times. Long grass is really tough on cars, avoid it. That's true for any manufacturer's stuff, not just Traxxas. Blasting through a section of grass as part of all-terrain running that includes mostly hard surfaces is fine, of course, but if you're running the [I]entire pack [/I]on grass, that's really not a good idea.

thanks for that link, looking at it closely it looks to be a casing surrounding the joint which should help keep them from popping out.
it should do really good

I run my Rustler VXL out front and back of my house, and some of the time I'm running on short/mowed grass, is this ok? Is it just the grass that has higher resistance that can be a problem?

Anything with a high rolling resistance is harder on the motor/ESC/Batteries. So yes, grass in general causes heat issues. So just be mindful of your temps when running on grass.

just regularly check temps and you will be okay assuming there not to hot.
i don't get why people ask this either, i never run grass lol. :wacko:
Hi.Being brushless and having the longest travel in it's class will probably make it better than any other 1/16th for true off road.Not the ego refreshing racing,but that could be sorted with a few upgrades. ;) .Taking it back to a brushless revo wouldn't cost too much cash :)

I gotta imagine that it is not gonna be much of a crawler like its big brother. Pretty much like the merv with bigger tires. To much cooging while trying to crawl but there are other motor and esc combos that would be better for crawling.. That's just my thoughts..
