HI I'm a new mini e revo vxl owner. Is there anything I should know about this car such as upgrades or problems it has? If there are please tell me because I don't really want to find out too late.

Thanks, and yes I own another rc so I'm ok with high speeds.

I heard the servo is the weakest link a few times. On my slash the knuckles and suspension were the weak spots.

If you call Traxxas, they can walk you through setting up the steering endpoints. This is said to help the servo issue. If you have other RC's you can at least put heavier oil in the suspension, I would change the springs also if possible.

Rpm arms, shimmed diffs. Jimmyneutron has a great link for diff shimming. Steel hollow balls. HR aluminum knuckles. Jimmy is the best at this part.

Ekotek big bore shocks, TRA7151X and 7250R, Series connector(speed) and parallel connector(longer bashing time). Then of course if you want to upgrade to a BB 540 and sv2 combo. And welcome to the forum!

The best advise I can give has already been given...

Shim your diffs... even before you run it.
It takes time for the stock battery to charge with the stock charger... about 6 hours.
You should be able to tear down and shim in that time.

Run the snot out of it... but I would stay away from running in series. That is when most of the issues arise.
Once you break something... pop on here and ask what we have done to replace it... or for advice on what could be the problem...

We are always glad to help!!

I would like to add one thing...
Don't spend your hard earned money on NiMh... go LiPo if at all possible.
LiPo's can be had for less than $10 shipped...
decent LiPo chargers can be had for less than $30 shipped.

What are you talking about?
The charger itself... or the output?

I need to make a correction...
if JUST the charger is ordered, shipping would bring it to about $35.

BUT due to the weight bracket type shipping, you can add other items to the order without paying more for shipping.

To me the 2 weakest links on these things are the knuckles and arms being that's what I broke first on my merv. RPM arms always, then GH or GPM knuckles.

Other small stuff I did
Velcro instead of body clips
Steel hollow balls
Black/tan springs (thicker oil too)
Shimmed

what kind of lipos and charger are you getting for that price?

***** LiPo's ~$8 + shipping
or you could get
******* ********'s for ~$12 + shipping

******* Accucel-6 ~$23 + shipping
or you could get
IMAX B6 ~$25 + shipping
IMAX B6-AC ~$40 + shipping

I do not own these chargers, but a member here has done some research and claims they are the same as a Thunder AC6... the first two without built in power supplies. Also, I have read that the power supplies that work with those chargers are quite common... some have even had one laying around that was for an old lap top.

I own 6 of the ***** LiPo's that fit the 16th platform (with 2 3S on order)... have not had a single issue with them.
I own two of the ******* ********'s for the 10th scale Summit... not any issues with them either.

Will your 2 3S on order fit inside the battery compartment of the 1/16?

Yes.
I plan on using the 3S for speed runs only.

Eventually putting the MERV up against my future MT4G3.
