View Full Version : Few drag races - Summit Vs Merv

I hate calling my mini a MERV because it's a conversion from the 7105 to a big block, either way:
Stock 1/10 Summit vs Modified 1/16 E-Revo
Video Uploaded - 1323est
I have a 22t pinion on a 50t spur for the E-Revo with a 2s 25c Traxxas 2200 Lipo.
"Out of the box" Summit.
The Summit doesn't hold a candle against the E-Revo on smooth ground, but once I go in the grass the E-Revo care just barely edge it out. If these races were actually planned and it wasn't a, "MOM COME OUT HERE AND TAPE THIS STUFF" I'm sure the E-Revo would win... this was just a buncha random drags stitched together as a test in After Effects and some stabilizing/colouring effects.
It'll be neat to see what the Lipos can do for the Summit when I get them .... at some point in time.

It's amazing how much energy gets sucked up into the grass...
yet some people wonder why they over heat when they run in grass. lol

Haha I have to travel 20 minutes too to get to places to drive my Summit, but that's still my back yard, and only walking. Haha thanks man!
Yeah jimmie it's crazy how much the grass soaks up! You can't just floor it, you really have to easy in to it or the tires just bounce bounce bounce and spin spin spin instead of....... bite.. bite.. you get the idea :D I'm glad others will be able to see the difference here!

I wanted to see them racing on the pavement as well at the end.... =(
Enjoyed the video, the grass does seem to be a equalizer though....
Lower ground clearance increasing the rolling resistance of the revo on the grass one might think.
I'd imagine a shorter cut grass would change the results, and the mini revo might get lost in the jungle if don't cut it for a while.
I think your mom set you up though and false started on her count down ;)

i dont want to be the guy that says "you got sucked up by a brushed motor", so..........

Good, because I wouldn't even understand what that means! Hahaha
Yeah earlier on this year the merv could do top speed on the grass when it was still flat and totally dead grass.
Racing on the pavement HAH, I could do laps around the Summit in the Merv. On the Summit forum people are always asking how to make the Summit faster faster faster.. so I wanted to show, "...here's a car that's too fast for it's own good, trying to keep up with the Summit in what is more of a Summit's playground."
Maybe I'll get a vid later of them on my driveway, my father drives the Summit - don't trust the Merv in his hands - but he has issues when it's coming towards him, he turns left to go right and vice versa, so that's kinda scary when it come to racing! We'll see...
