View Full Version : Plastic bearings, really?

So I'm taking apart my 1/16th revo today to do some maintenance on it and plus I broke one of the steering components. Come to find out there's plastic bearings in places where you'd think there would be ball bearings. Plastic bearing in the steering and on the rockers? We pay $300 for a kit and get that?
Off the soap box, has anyone replaced those plastics with the sealed ball bearings? I plan and swapping those out asap. Anyone else replaced these with any better performance so to speak?

Yup they give us plastic. And Yup theres a few threads going replacing them.
Cant tell you the exact size right now but they make them. Im sure someone will be right in providing that info to you.
Ill eventually switch but have no urge to right now.
Just another useless post by me.

Rocker bearings are 4x7x2.5 Traxxas option part, LHS should have the number. Two per package @ $4, you need 8 total = $16
Steering are 5x8x2.5. Pretty sure there is a option part number but I haven't done those yet...
Might be my excuse to go to the LHS after work today.

They are bushings, not bearings.
Peter has the correct information, in case you were wondering.

They are 100% worth upgrading! A lot of people on here have upgraded them!

yeah I wish I knew when I bought the thing too..
I'm gunna leave the steering how it is for now, seems fine
To anyone who has made the switch to bearings in the steering system: Does it reduce slop in the steering?

Yeah I got the parts list already pulled up but, still. I think it's more of the fact they're plastic "bushings" as jimmie neutron put it. Just a little disappointing is all

Bearings prevent slop and make everything turn smoother.
