Ok so i just got a stampede xl-5 that cam with the 8.4V 3000mah battery. I know that the mah rating is how long the battery will last but what will the 9.6V battery due for it. I'm thinking of getting a venom 9.6V 4200mah battery and i know it will run longer but what is the benefit in the 9.6V?
Thanks
The 9.6V will make the car go faster and the added 1200MaH over the 3000MaH will make each run be longer. Not sure if the XL-5 can take 9.6V, though!

NOTE: Titan 12T motors are intended for use in single motor and single battery pack applications, up to 8.4 volts.Motor temps are dependent on gearing and running conditions. I would not expect a Titan to last very long if over-volted. The XL-5 will run 9.6V for days.

Aren't the titan 12t 550 motors the same ones that have been in the E-maxx for a decade now running off 14.4-16.8 volts?

Aren't the titan 12t 550 motors the same ones that have been in the E-maxx for a decade now running off 14.4-16.8 volts? No, the original E-Maxx Titans were 23T. Since 2004 they have been 21T. Marine Titans are 24T. And as the name implies, the Titan 12T 550 is not only a 12T, but a wholly different motor than the rest.
Thanks to cooleocool for the Titan motor information.

I have a stock Ruslter with the XL-5. I just picked up a 9.6v 5000 Mah battery. There is a noticeable increase in power witht the 9.6v. However, the new battery lasts a long time but the power drop off is noticeable also.
Looking back I should have just took the plunge for LiPo.

Yeah I couldn't believe how much better lipos as far as voltage drop.
