So far I like the car, but it's much more difficult to drive than my speed Rustler. Just gonna take some getting used to I guess. I heard that the car is a little rock vacuum and boy is it. My street is cleaner now though. lol I'm thinking of removing the rear wing. I don't really see how it's gonna help. Plus, it is a major pain to put in the rear body clips. I have decent size hands and it's hard to get my fingers in there. I haven't unlocked the car yet and have been running up and down the street with the stock gearing. I made sure to change the gearing numbers in the Traxxas Link and so far the telemetry tells me 57 mph. I'm gonna find a good spot for my GPS and verify this soon. I should be able to get some decent run time this weekend. I'll try to take some vids too. Oh and btw, this car is huge! Had no idea how big it actually was until I had it on the table. And, so far I like it.

Congrats and keep it easy on the throttle after you unlock it.
My experience...
Parking lot: When i found a big enough parking lot to hit 100mph it wasn't big enough to gradually hit 100mph and gradually slow down. I would gradually get up to about 70mph and as i was running out of space i kinda rushed to 100mph. With all the torque on this thing the rear end will get sideways quick and at that speed there's not much you can do to recover.
Street: I found a long smooth road to run on but my problem with that is how narrow the road is. If you go off track in a parking lot it doesn't matter much because you have all the space in the world but in the street you have to fight to keep it tracking perfectly straight. Just a little too hard on the steering and you're in the curb.
I got a few good runs and right when i built up my confidence i started getting sideways from hitting the throttle too hard and then i corrected the steering i ended up in the curb.

The XO-1 is a whole different animal when unlocked. After you drive it unlocked for a while and try to drive it locked again you'll get bored.

Pull that foam back on your remote steering knob a little, it rubs the transmitter when it try's to return to
Center. When the weather is really cold your car won't track straight. The slicks and the cold don't mix.
Congrats and have fun!:)

Thanks for all the advice and heads up, guys. This thing is pretty awesome and I'm sure I'll love it even more once I get used to it. I'm gonna unlock it but still run stock gearing. I wanna verify the speed via GPS before going all out with it. Gonna be fun for sure!

I'm curious why people go right to changing the cars form when they haven't even begun to master it's stock form? I'm not trying to be negative here but you may wanna get used to the car as-is before you go making changes to the aerodynamics. You had trouble handling the car at locked speed before, wait till there is less down force there from the spoiler. This isn't a front wheel drive honda that some teenager put a huge wing on after seeing fast and furious. The wing is there for a reason. ;)

Yea I agree, Traxxas put everything in place for us. The guy tells us the wing plays a big roll in aerodynamics of the car.
Powers video proves that if used correctly you won't have anything to worry about. I don't make vids but let me tell
You this thing is dialed in right to every last detail!

You didn't read my post correctly. I said it was more difficult to handle than my speed Rustler. I didn't say I had a hard time handling it. It is a different machine and that's what I'll have to get used to. I can handle it just fine. I haven't taken the wing off. It is an idea. I also may space it up so I can get my fingers in there easier. A couple more mm of clearance should do.

I had the same problem with the wing on my car. Once you go through the process of placing and removing the pins a few times you'll find that it will get alot easier.

You will for sure want the wing on the car when running at speed.

No, you didn't type it correctly. You say it's gonna take some getting used to. That in itself implies your inability to handle it at this time. There is no shame in that. Some things take practice. I practiced through about 4 cycles of the batteries before unlocking and adding the bigger gear. Even then I made myself wait till my second run with it set up that way before i gave it all she had.

I'm just saying spend some time getting to know her before you start trying to change her.

I agree the wing is a PAIN. It was cold out the other day and I was really struggling to get the pins in. If they went the other direction, lengthwise, I think they'd be easier. The moulding of the body kind of prevents that, but that could have easily been cured by Traxxas.

Its one of those head scratchers, how much testing could they have done, and still left the body pins like that? When the engineer said he went through so many iterations of the chasis, I felt relieved that it had been really tested out....

I bought a sheet if 3mm thick foam today. I'm gonna space the wing up just a bit. Should help me get my fingers in there. I always worry that I may need to get the body off quick. You just never know.

You guys must got some really Big hands lol, come on guys no offense, but are you really complaining about the
body clips on the
Car, come on felles lol:confused:

Yes, I am complaining. I don't have much patience for some things and body clips are one of them. Other things I can take my time and tinker with, but some things I just can't stand. I know... weird.

No offense but must you criticize every big or small thing anyone says about the car that is negative? It's good commentary and since Traxxas like most companies is always looking for product improvements these things are taken into consideration.

you again lol, ok padrino i tell you what when your car finally comes in the mail from planet pluto report back to the forums and then ill listen to you. Body clips, oh yeah i can see traxxas with their design team trying to figure out a easy way for guys to remove body clips in the winter lol, they will most likely get right on it:lol:

Yeah I wanna do some nice lights too. Also I spaced up my rear wing with some foam. Its alot easier to get my fingers in there now. I'd really like to leave the wing off. It looks so much better without it.

Cool but if you ever plan on pushing it to the max you should put it back to normal just for that run
