So finally got to try and do some speed runs. I did get it to top out at 106MPH as per the controller reading!! That was great. I flipped the car once on one of the runs, and then on another run I got greedy and wrecked it.

Next time I go out I'm looking for a better spot, preferably much wider. This was the first spot I found that I tried so far. I'm going to search for better spots for the next time I go out.

I had tweaked the suspension up real good, I have a bunch of pictures of what I did. Setup the diff nicewith 50K gear oil, the car was shooting straight as an arrow for the most part! I got greedy on my last run and went for it when I KNEW I shouldnt have but I did. The video makes the crash look worse. I went over the car and broke probably about 100$ i parts, maybe less I dont know. I have to order I think 3 parts that I dont have.

Broken parts list: cracked rim but fixed with crazy glue for now (no speed runs with that for now!!) , cracked the front bulkhead/diff housing, broken turnbuckle and bent front left hub carrier. Bent an A-arm, broke the canards, and bent 2 shock shafts. Overall it looks way worse then it is. About 2 hours of my time and a 30$ parts order I will be back out there! I'm just glad I got to run this thing finally! I'm wondering though if the aluminum A-arms saved my butt a bit, or made it worse by not cracking and taking the brute of the punishment. ANY THOUGHTS ON THAT? I'm personally thinking they helped by keeping the middle of the car away from the curb... plastic arms would have cracked and the middle of the car where the motor, etc. is would have been more damaged. Just a theory!!

On a side note. I dont know how much I really like doing these top speed runs. After bashing, having a Team Associated SC10 all setup for the local track, and doing these high speed runs.... I think high speed runs are the least fun. I prefer drag racing in a real car much more! But I'm not done I want to get this thing to the point where its on rails at speed and push it faster still. So I will be back, hopefully sooner than later!

Here are the pictures and videos I have of the car. Enjoy!

Suspension setup installed along with new A-arms, Revo 2.3 rate springs, and 40weight Losi oil in the shocks. I feel this is a great setup for the suspension! 50K Traxxas diff fluid in the rear diff. This setup feels like its alot better but there is still something on the table. The servo saver will be getting replaced with an adjustable aluminum unit during this rebuild.

Yep, best curb shot to date! On the plus side, you still have the stock shocks and arms to put back on.....right?

You said your controller said 106? I haven't seen a video yet that looks even close to 100. Not trying to bash on you, but I think something is going on with the telemetry on these cars. Has anyone verified their speeds with a GPS or radar gun?

Nice crash video!

Thanks bro! I'm sure I will have more as I try and really learn how to make one of these cars go fast and straight!

I'm pretty sure I hit top speed on that pass, and if not I probably did on one of the other passes. I had 5 or so clean passes on the car. I have to get my other buddies phone and download all his videos. One of them topped out at 106MPH. The one my buddy posted I was full throttle on the car and it read 106 as well. I'd be betting it was 95+ if I was to gamble.

MiamizFinest above has clocked his with a radar gun and I believe it was off a couple MPH, which is normal, but it is fairly accurate. Even a cars spedometer isnt 100%. When you factor in rolling resistence, slip, wind resistence compared to the exact mathematical value such as the telemetry setups they arent exact.

@mikesuzieq, I'm ok with it bro I bought the car to run it and I figured I'd wreck it once or twice in its time. I got some good test data for the car now and know things I want to change for my next run out.

@ScottEMS, yes I have all the stock stuff to put back which I could probably do but dunno if I want to. The shocks are fine I like the silver I will probably just swap the rods or order them the shocks are fine other than the bent rods. I need one set of A-arms, a diff housing, and like 2 other body parts to order.

I am at a cross roads though. I'm having 2nd thoughts about even trying to rebuild the car to be honest. I could part it out and build another race buggy for my local track, I really am loving the mid engine Schumacher buggy thing is nasty! I'm sure I could get about 800+$ in usable parts off the XO1 from what i have seen parts going for... In the end I really like off road racing, turning, and jumping, etc. with my SC10, its my favorite so far and its what all my boys do as well; race at the track. Who knows I change my mind more than I change my socks!

I think the aluminum arms compounded your damage. You rareley see the whole arm get ripped off on cars with plastic arms. You are going a lot faster also so who knows.

I feel you should of drove up the road a little further before you started to give yourself more space.

Why is there someone on the road? That just narrows your driving space. Try to get elevated to see better.

+1 The best XO-1 crash video! (Except Traxxas's door smash tutorial but it don't count)

Doesn't look 100 at all honestly. I'd say 45-50.

I hear ya, doesnt look it, but it was, def over 50.

With the small spur the car comes installed with it goes 50-55 and I was going way over that in all those videos. The car wont lift in the air at all like it did at 50mph. I'd say its very planted until your going at least 65mph and the car was lifting. I think I need to lower the nose more or give the car a bit more rake. Next time out I will try it!

I was way far out Bob, I couldnt see the car all well where I was standing, remember I wasnt where the camera was in a few vids. :-D

Also I think the bulkheads on the bottom of the diff case are quite weak. I ordered 3 of them the other day from traxxas because this is the SECOND TIME I ripped an A-arm off, hence why I have them. First time I clipped a tire on my neighbors jeep messing around in front of my house at like 10-20mph and it cracked the bulkhead and ripped the A-arm right off, same thing that happened this time! I ordered 3 sets of canards when I called them last time for parts anticipating I would crash it again in my attempts at going fast..... Price wise, the canards are only I think 6$ and the bulkheads were 5$ if I recall correctly. CALL TRAXXAS FOR PARTS! There website isnt up to date!

The person standing in the road is me :-p I was content standing there. The width didnt matter other than being a nice cushion for messing up.

Many people are thinking its unlocked but it isn't. Read some of the other threads on this forum and many having unlocking issue.

Okay sounds like those bulkheads are weak then. I thought the inboard pin retainers looked a little thin to be made out of plastic. Did you get your new a-arm bent straight again? That shock shaft got hammered! I wish people would actually read the thread before spouting off.
