I JUST got my traxxas slash 4x4 platinum edition not 15 days ago and there has been so many stupid little problems that I have no clue how to fix. First of all my esc button keeps sticking so every time I turn it on I have to recalibrate it and some times my battery is not full so I need to charge it which takes 60 minutes then recalibrate it then pull up the button with pliers. My local hobby shop guy said to rip out the button because it would still be water proof and push the button with a pin but I don't want to do that. But when I am driving it full throttle the engine will cut out for a split second and then go again it is not range because the day I got it I drove it to the park 1.5 blocks away. I could be jamming the controller in the car and there is no difference. the wire from the receiver is only 1 cm up the blue tube is that ok? HELP. ALL I WANT TO DO IS DRIVE MY RC CAR WITH NO PROBLEMS

Don't pull the switch out of the esc- send the esc back to traxxas and have them fix it the antenna is normal. As far as cutting out at full throttle, it sounds to me like the batt is not able to supply the power it needs at full throttle. Try a different batt

i had the exact same problem with the esc sticking and traxxas is sending me a new one right now....I am considering buying the castle mamba sidewinder sv2 and use the slash 4x4 as a back up.
Do you use lipo batteries? makes all the difference..
I have been exactly where u r. Frustrated that you spend this much money for a product that has nothing n]but issues. I have taken it o]upon myself to become a slash 4x4 Ultimate expert. I have torn my SCT down to all parts to learn the strong points and weak points...I have replaced the stock shocks with the Pro-line shocks (never have to worry about that again) I have replaced the stock motor mount with the aluminum HEADZ with over sized bearing..huge difference...I have installed RPM A-Arms all the way around m=ine and my sons slash 4x4 because stock ones n=]brock 2 weeks in..We just got these for christmas..
I have tlo say to get them at an optimum race level you will need to upgrade these parts.
you will truly see the difference and stop having all these issues...another thing i have found is cleaning your SCT after every outing weather it is racing or bashing. Clean it head to toe and tighten all bolts or use lock tite on all loose screws.
Good Luck, Sharxfin

Hey man just relax. sometimes you just get a pickle. Keep in mind that can happen with ANY rc vehicle or even anything else for that matter.
The best thing you can do is work through through these problems with Traxxas's AWESOME customer support and educate yourself about your truck as well as how to fix it.

I was in the same boat 2 years ago. Sent in ESC called Traxxas support (excellent) they walked me through my problems in a very polite way and had tons of patience. I got mine truck running right and now have 2, plus a stampede.
The king heads motor mount is almost a must, it saves a lot of problems down the road. Other then that just run it and enjoy, there is a learning curve this site and people on here are a super help. Lipo batteries when your ready will make you super happy, I suggest staying with the 2s lipos to start, the truck has no issues with 2s where 3s it has common heat issues.
Most off stay calm, hide the hammers, we'll get you through it.

Just work out the bugs, slash 4x4 is a good truck. You just have minor issues. This is a maintance hobby, your truck will always NEEED somethingget use to it. The only time it won't cost, is if you park it.
