I really cannot wait to see what's going to be announced on Wednesday. The anticipation has been building for what, two months now? Thinking about how we've always done it big with vehicles like the T-Maxx, Revo, Jato, started the whole short course thing with the Slash, the brushless monster trucks, I can't imagine what our people have come up with now. Each time I think maybe it could be one thing, I can think of why Traxxas might not want to do that. What else is left that will break the mold yet again? It's driving me crazy!

It's going to be a long day and night tomorrow.

I hope the rumors about 7 new items was not JUST 7 new part #s.

With the release of the new supercar there are new items as far as radios go also.

MODEL 6507: TQi Transmitter, 4-channel with 5-channel Receiver and Docking Base
MODEL 6508: TQi Transmitter, 4-channel with 5-channel Receiver
MODEL 6509: TQi Transmitter, 2-channel with 5-channel Receiver
MODEL 6510: TQi Docking Base
MODEL 6518: TQi 5-channel Receiver

I do see that they used some parts from past models. - Wheel hubs from Summit, some suspension parts from the Slash, and I am sure some of the steering parts are the same part #s also.
Why would they reinvent every part if some of the parts they have will work perfectly fine again.
Keeps prices lower in the long run!!

Can anyone from Traxxas confirm if any of the NEW parts from this car are compatible with older models?
I would love if those new sealed CVD drive shafts would fit on my Slash 4X4.
I just got done recently putting "Link" Receivers in all my older cars, so I can pick up any remote I own and run any car/truck I have, now they have a NEW system out.

Will the new radio be able to change the parameters the same way as the original Link radio's, or will you have to have a Ipod/Iphone to adjust anything.
I would hope it is only needed for Telemetry readings if you need it, besides being an easier way to adjust all the normal TX settings.

the first thought that popped in my head was...'lets see that more with a slash/offroad style!!!!"

is that motor new? from traxxas or castle?

that thing looks insane!! i'd never buy one due to the price, prolly wouldnt if it was half that either... (would be super tempting tho). plus i dont have the room/area for that thing to run. i wouldnt want to take out a neighborhood kid or put a hole in my neighbors car....

my question, given the crazy speeds that thing will do.... i wonder how expensive replacement parts will be...cuz you know if that thing hits something more solid than the car, somethings breaking!!

VERY AWESOME NONTHELESS!!

I really think Traxxas doesnt listen to what people want. Yes the car is impressive but where in the heck are you ever going to use it ? First you have to buy the car for a ridiculous price, then you have to go and buy a I-Phone and the app just to use the car to its full potential. Then you have to go and rent the Texas speedway just to run it !
I beleive your average RC person is basher and prefers off road to on road . You sure arent going to run that on any paved road, it would have to be a perfectly flat piece of pavement. I just dont get it, why doesnt Traxxas give people want they want ?

It is false advertising when you proclaim in HUGE fonts in the adds, and video 100+ mph and then in tiny print at the bottom put *Unlock the 100+mph speed only with the Traxxas Link App.

Unlocking 100+mph speed capability requires the Traxxas Link Application (download from the App Store) and an iPhone or iPod touch (sold separately). iPhone and iPod touch are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries.

So it is not a 100mph car unless you have a crapple phone and pay EXTRA money for a non included application.

The new radio and the current TraxxasLink radios are interchangeable. The menu tree is the same on the new radio. It has menu and set buttons to make adjustments just like the current one. If you have the current transmitter or receiver bound to one of the new items, you won't have all the features, but you'll still be able to drive and adjust settings through the menu tree and menu/set buttons.

Sounds about right. I paid about 700 for my ERBE. Throw in lipos, ipod, new radio.... i figured it would be AT LEAST $700.

However, there's a lot of new, and really exciting options. I'm hoping we can use the shafts on the Slash chasis, the tires on my revo, the slipper/bumper sounds very promising.

Its also a little scary. I've been working for about a year on breaking 70 mph with a Slash...(I have some self imposed restrictions)... But now, any person off the street can buy a 100 mph car? Sounds like mayhem to me! This thing is going to cover distance stupidly fast, and the wrecks could tumble for a hundred feet....

I told my buddy if they brought out a 5th scale revo, I'd be $1500 more broke.

I doubt I'm buying this one in the next few months, but I'll be buying parts of it for sure.

Until we see videos of the performance... I doubt many of us will even think about buying this.

Hopefully the wheel wobble will be non existent since this car has its own unique stub axles.

This thing better have a wheelie bar.

The radio looks pretty neat.

IF TRAXXAS DOESNT COME OUT WITH AN UPDATED 1/8 or 1/7 EREVO USING THE NEW RADIO, NEW SHAFTS, ESC, MOTOR, NEW 4 SPIDER GEAR DIFFERENTIALS and BELTED MONSTER TIRES..... THEY HAVE MISSED THE BOAT.

While the car itself looks breathtaking....Can u imagine hitting a road stripe reflector at 95+ mph. Lol

Everything you said are my exact thoughts! Where the heck do you use this car? I could think of 10 better things Traxxas could of come out with. Nitro Summit, a stronger nitro motor than 3.3, ATV, the ability to start your nitro from the radio, something that turns your car over by itself after a crash (my kid is getting tired of running after my cars to turn them over :), a killer multi lipo charger, a new battery technology that blows everything away, etc... I could go on and on. But they come out with a 100 MPH car that you can't drive anywhere?? really?? Disappointed.

I have got to believe Traxxas knows what they are doing with this release. A company their size doesn't release anything on a whim. There is too much money riding on the decision. That's not to say this is a guaranteed winner, I'm just saying they have a plan.

If you look at the details, there is a TON of potential for existing models. The steering knuckles/hub carriers look like a huge improvement. If they can be retrofitted to some existing models, watch out. Ditto the new metal CVDs. I'm willing to set up a betting pool on here to guess the date the first build thread pops up putting them in a pede or Slash.

Big deal. You gotta use iOS for a minute. Who cares? Everybody knows somebody who has one these days. You can buy them on ebay for $25.

Read the specs and really pay attention to the vids. There is a lot more in there than an on-road supercar.

I won't be buying one because I have no place to run it. But I'll definitely be looking to stuff some of its parts in the ones I own now. And I am waiting on the spinning "Y" to announce the next off-road model based on these improvements. It's definitely on the way.

Not to say your statement(s) aren't 100% accurate but Traxxas DOES listen to what people want. People/customers HAVE been demanding an upgraded version of the electric onroad. Look at the last electric 4 tec.....pretty outdated. And Traxxas ALWAYS advertises the MAX mph on the box....and you ALWAYS have to buy additional items to reach those speeds. "65+ mph with optional gearing/battery, sold seperately". I believe, in this case, they are trying something new. Trying to stay curret with technology and being the first company to try something new. iPhones are a dime a dozen and look around.....a large amount of the population has one or will have one in the not too distant future. To add to that, this car is advertised for experienced RC enthusiasts. IMO, this is for adults and not the back yard/driveway basher. This is going to be for someone who wants a more technically driven, tuned, set-up, modified, etc., RC. Not a plug and play basher. Where are you going to run it??? There was an article in RC Car Action a few months back about a big craze in RC drag racing. This looks like a really good start for a set up in that. I'm a huge fan of the Nitro 4 Tec...have 3 of them, and this is a MUST have for my RC collection. I'm sure I'm not the only one out there that wants one either. Traxxas has pretty much burnt out the ideas with previous models with Nitro this now electric....Revo, Maxx, etc. And with all the 1/16th versions out with pretty much everything they sell at 1/10th is pretty overwhelming as well. Just a quick note....I believe their attempt at the Summit was a shoe-in for the Crawlers. A go anywhere, do anything RC. You can't really do that with a nitro. Meaning, a Nitro motor for crawling isn't going to make for a fun day of crawling or a day bashing in severe mud and water without having to dry out parts of the motor, air cleaner, etc. Just my 2 cents. And I was honestly hoping for a 1/5th scale verion of something (Revo) but I'm sure that's on the way too! :)
This will be a good seller and a fun RC to own and drive.

At that price & you have to have (wait one while I barf) an I phone or Ipad to get it to go top speed!

At that price if it requires it it should be included, Suggested Selling Price $1099.99 +$150+ for an apple product= not from me!

Nothing against battery powered but you couldn't give me anything apple makes.

I just think it's silly to have to dump out that much more to get it to up to top speed, at that price the I pod/ ect. should come with it or there should be a work around.

For me having to buy a $200 i pod to go with it is a deal killer, that and I have no place to run something that fast.

i own a 100mph+ rustler, and the good thing about that is, if i'm done with speedruns, i throw my badlands on it, raise the suspention a bit and off road it. I know it handles alot less with 2wd, but where do you go drive always 100 mph?

But i wil buy those wheels for my rustler lol, also kudos on that 2.4 system, realy cool

So +1 for the belted traxxas tire's!!
+1 for the 2.4 telemetrysystem!
-100 for the price, building my rustler was not 1200 bucks by far, and its all fastlane to.

no what traxxas need to do is spend some time on what they already have out. such as there motors maybe make a bigger vxl? make more then one type of electronics. make different afftermarket parts. design onto what they already have, improve make it appeal more to the experienced racers not just the kid getting into it, how about doing something they have not done before a 1/8 buggy ore a 1/10 buggy get some different electronics available such as 1/8 motors and esc for people who want to upgrade. get more parts available better parts. design different styled body's that are not as thin of a leaxan. bring out new tire options get some old models that have not been looked at in a while and improve what they allready have. look more towards the racers. sure you have the slash 1/10 for shourt course, what about something diffrent they dont have a buggy, alot of people have been transforming there slashes to backslashes and even 1/8 backslashes. they could opean up so much more with what they already have. sure they come out with new licensed body all the time but what about under the hood? i think they could make there existing products sooooo much better with the technology they have they have had the same vxl forever why not like i said make there products they have and make them better?? im not hating im stating what A LOT OF MORE EXPERIENCED RC HOBBYIST ARE SAYING!

96mudder, your post goes along with a lot of other comments I've seen about the XO-1, but you kinda contradicted yourself when you said Traxxas should improve what they already have out OR develop a 1/8 or 1/10 buggy (Traxxas already has the Bandit 1/10 buggy). So, should they be fixing up old models or cranking out new ones? Personally, I don't care much for the XO-1, but I don't see that as any sign that Traxxas is out of touch.

As for improving what they already have out, Traxxas is constantly improving their vehicles. Just look at all the revisions of E-Maxx's and Revos. I'm rebuilding both right now, and I'm getting headaches keeping track of all the revised part numbers. I've seriously spent DAYS researching the subtle improvements made to these trucks over time. The Rustler/Bandit/Stampede and Maxx platforms have been around since the 90s, and a lot of people would say to scrap those trucks and deliver something all new, but Traxxas is still selling, supporting, and improving them. Remember, too, that any time you replace a model with a new one, people are gonna be a lil upset that their old truck isn't supported. Personally, one of the things that attracted me to my Rustler was the idea that it wouldn't be obsolete in a few years (Support-wise, not performance-wise). My experiences with other brands can be summed up thusly: "Oh, you don't have the latest and greatest version of that truck. Go buy one and then we can talk."

As for developing new products, I think Traxxas has a good grasp on where they stand in the market, and it doesn't stick it's nose where it doesn't belong. Sure, Traxxas could spend a ton of money on developing a new 1/8 brushless motor, but they would have to charge for that R&D somehow, not to mention the fact that they would have to work out the kinks of introducing a new product AND convince people that their system is a better value than aftermarket offerings (Novak, Feigao, Castle, etc.). OR, they could just strike a deal with Castle Creations, a company FULLY DEDICATED to making motors and ESCs, who offer a ton of options for sizes, KV rating, etc., and would bring their excellent reputation to the table as well. Sure, they could cater to racers, maybe release a 1/8 buggy, but it's gonna be hard to convince hardcore racers (many of whom are Traxxas-haters) to ditch their track-tested brands for a completely new model made by a company famous for making tough RTR bashers. You gotta remember, as awesome as it is that Traxxas made the RTR so popular, a lot of elitist, old-school racers hate RTRs and the fact that they bring more "noobs" into the hobby.

Coming full circle, everything costs money, and every penny Traxxas spends will be passed on to the consumer. Thicker lexan on stock bodies would increase a model's cost, and replacing the stock body is the first thing many RCers do anyway. Another VXL setup would only place less value on the current systems, and serious hobbyists would still likely overlook them and go with a dedicated electronics company with more options. Quite a few have speculated what the XO-1's new tech could mean for off-road vehicles, so here's one way to look at it: Everyone who buys an XO-1 is funding research that will go into upcoming models.

Since I've already got a book going, there are 2 more complaints about the XO-1 that I find counter-productive.

I personally hate Apple stuff, and I'm too poor to afford it anyways, so I cringed when I first saw the TQi. But, I know a lot of the cost in fancy transmitters comes from the LCD, which is usually lo-res and monochrome. With the TQi/iPhone setup, you get a high-resolution full-color screen with updatable software and virtually unlimited presets for less than the cost of similar telemetry-capable radios. Also, iPhones are pretty ubiquitous nowadays, and incredibly cheap if you buy an older used one. All I can say is if you're willing to drop $1100 on an RC, you either already have an iPod/Pad/Phone or you could afford one no problem.

I've seen others complain that the car is "just a modified Slash 4x4". Frankly, I like it when cars share parts. It makes them cheaper, easier to find, and inspires improvements both within Traxxas and the aftermarket (the Revo/Maxx carriers were improved after Slayer owners had issues with them, for example). Just today, I had 2 instances where I saved money and a trip to the hobby shop by using parts from other vehicles. I know it's kind of a bummer to see the same old stuff re-hashed (I was disappointed when I first bought my Slash, it just looked like a raised, extended Rustler) but if a part is tried and tested in one car, I see no problem in using it in others. 1:1 auto makers do it all the time.

OK, I'm done! Man thats a big post!

Yes it's big, but it is well said.

I fully agree with what jwstiles65 said as well having the ability to run and up keep 3 different trucks for 5years, using the same parts from one to the other is definantly easy on the wallet.

How ever it does bugg the snot out of me that Traxxas added new wheels and a couple cosmetic changes to the stampede and called it a monster truck. I wish they would have, and think they should, do something simular to the wheelyking. Live axles, full tube cage, slash trans and slipper and all, with the current MJ body, tires and wheels, revo links for 4 link bars. Yeah Id buy one in a hurry. Not only will it appeal to the MJ fans the crawler/scale truck guys will jump on it too, alot of them already use Traxxas transmissions.

The XO-1 is really nice/ not my cup of tea but from the ones I've seen, the only real issue are the flimsy bodies that they come with. Other than that, great job traxxas. Now.. can we please have a 1/5th scale MONSTER TRUCK!!!! Never mind the 1/8th scale buggy, the future is LARGE SCALE; so since they are still in the development stages, put out the Monster Truck 4x4 that will put them all to rest. I would love it to be electric w/o the crazy price tags.
