Hey guys, i'm a little new to the lipo-brushless scene, but i've been doing RC for years. I currently run a jato with an os .21tm and a mostly stock rally. The rally was my first brushless vehicle and i run 3s lipo in it which is a lot of power in that little car. I like my rally, but i'm thinking about going back to offroad and i am considering an ERBE. However, I noticed that the brushed version is considerable cheaper than the brushless. I really want the brushless though.
The other option I am considering is the brushess emaxx. It is powered by the same system as the e-revo, but more than $100 cheaper. So maybe you guys can tell me what the difference is between the two and if the revo is really that much better. I'm gonna put this is both the e-revo thread and the e-maxx thread.
Thanks.

Well Revo can take a beating. Maxx is a good truck but, needs upgrades, to get to the durablity of a Revo. So JMO the Revo is cheaper in the long run. Revo is also a better handeling truck.
ERBE will be #1 If you ask in this forum naturallly. But thats the reason why we Ended up here. Its the best and most all around and durable truck in traxxas electric line of trucks

the e-maxx is an old platform and has some durability issues. i broke shocktowers and bulkheads constantly and i went through probably 4-5 chassis. the revos are durable out of the box.

ERBE you will love it. If you want a more Monster truck feel the Revo comes with long travel rocker arms to give it more that Monster truck look.

BL for fast ( will need lipos ), or brushed for waterproof- take your pick :)

This is the type of opinion I would take to the bank, from someone who owns both:D

I have the erbe and the brushed e-maxx and love both of them. Obviously as stated above the erbe has better out of the box durability and a techincally superior design and what not and I drive both trucks about the same, maybe the erbe slightly more, but the e-maxx, even the brushed version I have, is still very fun to drive. I think either truck is great, the e-maxx would just require more upgrading out of the box to get a truck as durable as the erbe, but then again, the embe is also $100 cheaper.

I have driven both brushed versions, and can tell you that the E revo is way better. The stock tires are better than the Emaxx, on the brushed and brushless version. Battery trays are easier as the don't have removable pieces to lose. Suspension is miles better. The progressiveness really helps. The center drive train is more protected. IMO the E revo is better. I can't say which is better at high speeds because I haven't driven the brushless version, but I would guess the E revo because when you go faster it is harder on the suspension and faults and problems are amplified.

I can't comment a whole lot on the E-Maxx because I haven't actually driven one, but in looking at both suspensions I too would have to agree that the E-Revo is going to handle a whole lot better. It's a very stable truck even at high speeds, and I've had some pretty bad crashes and have yet to break anything except for a wing.

guys, like i said, im actually selling the E-maxx because in reality there is no point on keeping it. Since i got the Erevo i havent looked back, it handles better, it jumps better, they both can go fast if geared accordingly but at high speeds the Erevo can be controlled more than the Emaxx. I can actually drain the batteries without having to worry about purchasing a new part, the Erevo is just hardcore unstoppable, The Emaxx has a mean look, but in reality everything breaks: bulkheads, chasis, rear shock tower, rear differential, etc. i can keep going.
BTW you can raise the Erevo suspension if you would like more ground clearance and you can also take out the wing and put a Monster truck body on :O

Haha, thanks guys. So it sounds like the e-revo is worth the extra few hundred. I guess i'll save up.
Thanks again for the input.

Don't forget buying used though- you can get a good condition/ upgraded roller for $200-300, then add a BL system for another $200-250, cheaper than $700 rtr...

Yup, that's what I did, except it took a few more steps, but worth it in my opinion, :
I bought a slash 4x4 roller for $100 bucks (the guy needed money bad), then traded that roller for an erevo roller (only 2 runs on it, the guy wanted a slash originally), once I got the roller I purchased the motor from castle website , the 1800kv, priced at $65 minus military discount ...total $50 bucks, went to rctech and found a mamba monster esc for $90, total price for a almost new brushless erevo = $240
What's that a deal or what? The joy of building my truck from ground up is worth it
