Top shaft keeps on giving me problems

Im running a 2wd slash brushless. I have had problems with the top shaft. I have replaced it twice. Both times it was because my slipper was to tight. (I know that now) but now about once a week the gear will move off the pin just a little. Then i have to break down the whole tranny, set it on, and seal it all up. Any help on how to properly set that pin in the top shaft?
