View Full Version : Striped steering servo gears.

Ok i think i have striped some of my teeth in my steering servo. I was bashing my JATO with my uncles REVO and we crashed a couple times. lol And after that is when i had this problem. Whe i turn the wheels with the TX the wheels turn fine but when they make it to just about center they makes this click sound and they have a good amount of play in them at that spot if you move them by hand. Every thing els seems to be fine, Nothing is cracked or broken in any way. That's why i think it's the servo gears. But what dose it sound like to you guy's? And can some one post a link to the servo rebuild kit that i will need? And i think the steering servo is a #2055 servo, But i am not sure.

Def sounds like servo gears I've gone through about 4 sets on mine. I recommend keeping a spare set on hand just in case.

Thank's, I took out the steering servo and opend it up, And sure enough i found a bunch of stripped out gears. So i will definitally be buying some new gears. Do you know if most LHS's carry the traxxas servo gears? I need to call my LHS just to see if they carry them so i can get my JATO running again. :)

I just burned up the steering servo in my Jato but its been about 3-4 months of hard bashing since i burned one up. Point being if your gonna be doing alot of bashing look into a metal geared servo because i was stripping out stock steering servos like once a week or so it seemed and iv had this one 3-4 months. this servo has survived ALOT i will tell ya that and once i get the time to take mine apart and fix it ill post the servo. Maybe Tuesday or Wednesday but at the latest it will be the weekend... working alot
Oh and go high torque =D

Ya, I see metal geard is a must compared to the stock servo. I have had my JATO for like 3 years and never broke anything, Because i would just drive it and not bash it, But now i want to start bashing and when i did last summer i striped the servo gears, Well actually i was driving my uncles REVO into my JATO. lol But it's been 3 years and this is the first thing that broke, And only being a $5 doller fix for replacement gears, That is not bad at all.

Do the gears come with instructions? Because i have no idea how to put the gears back in the servo

not that i know of.... u need to A) pay attention to the way they came out B) get a new stock servo C) get a metal geared servo for bashing that u wont mind replacing every few months when u go bashin 3-4 times a week. other than that its a crap shoot i havent found an exploded view of a steering servo or explinations on how its supposed to go back together

Odd i know the 2072 servo gears come with a exploded view on how to install the gears.I'm suprised the other ones don't let me look at my instructions I thought they include directions for the non waterproof servos also.

Ok, I fount a pic showing how it gow's back together. But my last questions are,
Do most LHS's that carry TRAXXAS part's usually have the replacement servo gears for the TRAXXAS servos?
And my steering servo is a #2055, Is there different packs of gears for different servos? Or will any TRAXXAS servo rebuild kit work with the #2055? I just want to know what to get when i go to my LHS

The gear sets are different from servo to servo; for the 2055, you will need part number 2053. I'd imagine that many hobby shops would have them (mine keeps several in stock), but I'm sure they can order you a set if they don't.

Thank's, I'm sure my LHS will have them, If not i will just order a set online. And thank's for the part number.
