Any lexan / polycarbonate paint is fine, just choose which color(s) you prefer and stick to that brand really- I've used Tamiya and Spaztix paints and they both stuck & covered well enough...

I'm going to be buying a body that pro-line stoped making. So it's going to be a show body. Thats why I want to know what the best paint to use is.

I just started airbrushing and love it soo much more than rattle canning. I'm using Parma Faskolor , when I used rattle can I tried everything but kept coming back to tamiya simply because of availability. I did make the mistake of not reading the label one time and a grabbed Tamiya for "plastics" instead of polycarbonate.

I thought you had something special in mind, like some kind of techni-color shell for a shelf queen. If it's just plain black and will never be 'used' as such, pretty much anything for lexan will be fine; I used some tamiya matt-black on the inside of my shell while back and its perfectly even, just do several light coats and let it dry in between to avoid dribbles. Some 'smoke' spray for tinting the windows always adds a nice touch- more coats = darker tint...

I have used Tamiya, Parma, and Pactra and my favorite would be the Tamiya. It sprays very evenly and has a nice big tip so your fingers don't get to sore after awhile. I have painted quite a few bodies now and the best way I have learned to do it is to apply a thin first coat then use a hair dryer on low heat to dry it. That gives it a good surface to stick to. Then depending on body and design, apply 2-3 more coats while blow drying between each until I have reached the point to where I think its good.
Good luck on the painting and post a picture when its done.

I just did my first paint job & I used Pactra. I kind of hurried thru it but it took me about 3 hrs (mostly taping). Only thing I can add is I scrubed the body with soap, water & a soft scratcher. You have to do a custom paint job......

I know if I use just 1 color it will look good. Black looks good on anything. :D

BTW I am going to tint the windows.

Wait a second, you want it black, and you'll never use it?

Why not just put it on the shelf, and never turn on the lights?

Also, if you're not going to use it, go buy cheapo rattlecan from the hardware store. No need for anything fancy.

That's my plan. I got a spare body which matches our Jeep, going to rattlecan it to match our fullsize version. Then after I come back from a bash and give the erbe a clean, it can look good inside with the new body instead of hidden away in the garage.

I can understand wanting to match the fullsize. My last 2 paints on the Slash have been yellow, more or less in reference to my GTO... but its hard to say there's any other similarity between the Slash and the goat.

Ok. I got the body in the mail on monday and I'll be geting paint for it tomorrow (at the lhs). I was looking at Pactra Window Tint Lexan Spray Paint and Pactra Outlaw Black Lexan Spray Paint. Is the Outlaw Black gloss black paint? I DON"T want Metallic black.

Unless it says Metallic then no, it should be just black. Also all paint is gloss when applied to the body. You have to lightly sand the body to get the flat or matte look.
Good Luck!!

Ya, but they are only for airbrushing. I want to use a spray can.

Any lexan spray can will do. But must be lexan no matter the purpose. IMO and experience the other parts takes as much damage as the body . So why have a roughed up ERBE in the living room with an undamaged body and worn tires and dirty too. Girlfriend or wife wants in the garage anyway . So do I.
