View Full Version : question about the cntr driveshaft

I was changing the diff. fluids, and when I was putting everything together, I noticed the center driveshaft could move back and forth. So, I want to know, does the driveshaft need to tight or should I leave some play between the shaft and "shaft keys" on the diffs?

I'm Pretty sure its normal, mine has done it ever since I had it, just cover the driveshaft hole in the chassis with neoprene and that will minimize the driveshaft from moving back/forth without binding and it will keep debris from getting under the center driveshaft

how much play do you have, 1/8", 1/16" 1/4"? right now I have about 3/16" play between the two.

Its about the same as yours, but mine doesn't move because of the neoprene holding it in place.
Here is the thread about the neoprene, its close to this one in the forum and you probably already saw it, but

i Found an old duffle bag strap and cut it down. It works great and my driveshaft is perfect now, thanks for all the help.

thanks, now it makes sense. I should of realized that. I did what Koda Dank said and so far so good. I really can't try it out til I get my esc back from Traxxas though<_<
