View Full Version : converting merv to summit help

Sorry if there is already a thread for this topic. If so, just direct me in the right direction.
I've been thinking of converting one of my two Merv's into a Summit. Can anyone tell me everything I would need to do so? A parts list if possible.

From what I've read, most Summit owners end up with:
RPM arms, front and rear
Summit sized tires
Plus whatever is needed to mount the Summit aesthetics...

Exploded views of each to compare/contrast gives you all your answers.

You probably want the Summit A-arms (extended travel)

Sorry, I meant Summit Rocker Arms

The summit rockers also create axle issues.

I did that, and i got this stuff. Rockers, 7156. Light bar, 7221. Suspension Arms, 7132R. Body Mounts, 7215. Wheel & Tires, 7274. Bumper Set, 7235. Exo Cage, 7220. Clear body, 7211. 19T pinion, 2419. 55T spur gear, 7047. This still leaves you with the merv drive shafts, which seem to be better anyway. Works great.

Any and all information will help. I most likely wont start the swap till later this month, but that gives me a few weeks to buy and prepare.
Thanks for the part numbers Gary, helps a lot.

from what i have heard, i would run the merv axles instead of the summit axles...... i owuld definitely get the traxxas 7151x cvds..... the only issues iwth those, are that some people over -flex them and don't have their pillow balls tightened enough and they pop out and bend, or the cups wear out over time......
but i was spitting out rear driveshafts on 4s every run..... so they were a logical choice for me, and never one have i had issues on my merv
