VXL3s with Tekin sc4x 5.5

Anyone tried to run a 5.5 turn SC4X on the VXL3s speed control? I tried to last night and boy did it get hot. I think the 550 can is to much for the VXL. I hooked up the sensor wire to both motor and ESC. Maybe i should try without the sensor wire. I was running it on 3s 5000 batt. I want to get the Tekin RX8 speed control but to pricey right now, maybe next week. Just trying to get some tuning in before race this weekend. Anyne have any input? thanks

I just got my Tekin 5.5 a couple weeks ago and it has been awesome, but that is with a MMP esc. I would recommend getting the MMP or the Monster esc. The MMP is a little cheaper than the Monster and the Tekin RX8 and has worked fantastic so far. Make sure you use the sensor wire with it since it is a sensored motor. Yep looks good. I am thinking I am going to have to get a new ESC. Just gonna have to bite the bullet and drop some coin. I have heard really good things about the RX8 and saw a few good deals on ebay for em. Looks like the UPS man will be showing up soon.
