View Full Version : 70 / 30 Throttle
Why does the manual recommend the 70/30 throttle position for more advanced people?
Surely the 70 / 30 position gives more progression and therefore control?
70 forward / 30 reverse .... dont really know why they made a physical switch for that one :-), but I think Traxxas just means take care by using the term advanced because its a little more progressive as you say and the kid at home who got the truck might not be able to control that setting ... dont pay to much attention to that phrase I guess

I think it's for racers who want more travel so that more speeds are available. Hope you see what I mean...
see what you mean, sounds logical enough, my boy has one of those Traxxas Rallys, we havent tried that option.. just told him to leave it be.... havent tried it on my ERBE .... sets all that stuff through the computer

All it does is change is change the proportions of the trigger. The top speed and braking power won't change. It allows delicate throttle control for racing during acceleration.
Thanks for the replies. I've give it a go as I want to try and 'master' drifts. Not looking to do any racing, just for messing around. Kids enjoy it as well - youngest is 5, but she may struggle to use the trigger on 70/30.
Have found some lovely smooth and relatively low grip tarmac only 100 metres walk from home which seems to suit the car well. I want to try and get better drifts by control before I start messing with oil weight in the diffs etc. The set up doesn't seem to far out geometry wise, tyre wear is quite even, but can't wait until I can justify the RPM knuckle upgrade to get rid of some of the slop in the suspension - makes it so difficult to set up the angles with so much play as standard.
Great car though, so much fun for a quick blast / release of stress, then home again.
I reprogrammed the ESC last night. It would work as in the manual with the cables to the motor disconnected. It did however work with the cables connected with the car on a standard just in case.

I switched mine to 70/30 today to see what happened and it started going backwards! Any ideas why?

you have to reprogramme the esc when changing the settings.
You`ll notice that when changing it, the throttle trigger moves too.

70/30 its just to give more fluid control of throttle. After all, who cares about finite control over reverse or braking? It's certainly not as important as how precise you can be with the throttle.
I only run my cars with 70/30 and I LOVE that this remote comes with the option. Not all do! Flip the switch, set up the ESC, and you're ready to rock with more throttle control.
