Has anyone try 4x4 speed run? Can this transmission handle more than 3s?>

the transmission should be ok on a speed run. but check the tires are well balanced first.

I tried a 3s in my Stampede 4x4 yesterday for the first time. I only used it for speed runs. The Stampede 4x4 got going pretty fast and the stock tires did balloon but not really to the point that it was a problem.
The biggest issue I've had with this truck so far is heat. I have a fan on the ESC and a heatsink on the motor now, but it still heats up quickly when bashing over rough terrain. Surprisingly with the 3s doing the speed runs heat was not an issue. It seems that all of the air rushing in between the body and the chassis helps quite a bit in terms of heat.
The only thing I noticed was that it seemed a bit rough on the slipper clutch. It wasn't so bad as long as I eased into full speed and didn't try to punch it off the line.
I've heard of people using a 4s with the VXL-3s but I personally think that's asking for trouble. Even 3s is something you have to be careful with in many situations.

The VXL 3S ESC Will NOT work with 4S... it wont even turn on. It knows how many cells youve got connected. The VXL motor is also not happy on 3S. Brushless motors are rated to a maximum RPM (each motor is different and the RPM is a function of Voltage). Its not that they CANT spin faster, but once you reach that threshold you risk exploding magnets and just killing the motor in general.
3S is as far as you should take the stock system in these trucks. But 3S is pretty insane fast.
