Converting from VXL to Brushed

I will be converting my VXL to a brushed for less torque and more low speed control. I will putting the 14 volt Titan 550 in with a 1/18 mamba ESC because it can handle that big of a brushed motor and has a built in lvc. Plus its small. If anyone is interested in swapping my VXL parts with their brushed parts (motor plate, mount, covers, and receiver box) let me know. Here is what it looks like so far.

you should go with the mmp so that moter can get more juice along with more volts

it can hanlde 6s with lvc it's bigger than the 1 18 one it can still handle the brushed motor

No heat issues and I dont have the trans gears swaped

cool one more thing though. why use a 1/18 esc instead of a 1/10 esc?

Because of the lack of space. and the 1/18 mamba should do everything I need it to do. I dont want to be limited to voltage or motor size and have a lvc.

Not according to Castle, they tested their 1/18th scale system in a MERV and determined it was not up to the task. They have said using it in the 1/16th scale cars will void the warranty

Thinking about the XL-5 with lvc on 2s. Which motor should I go with? The titan 12t 8.4v or the titan 21t 14.4v/16.8v?

The 21T can run on 14.4v, but I don't think two nimh's in series will provide enough current, as they don't in 380 brushless applications. Just get 2 8.4v 1300 mah packs and wire them in parallel. Choose the 21 turn for torque and lower speeds(off-road and crawling), and the 12T for for faster use.

Thanks. That's the issue finding a good esc that fits/waterproof that handles more then 2s. Thinking of using XL-5 with lvc with the 21t motor on 2s.

Sorry to be a beginner in here, but just trying to follow. What does the "xxt" motor mean (x = some number)? 21t, 55t, etc.

x = number of turns. 21t = a 21 turn motor 55t = a 55 turn motor. Just shorter to type 55t motor then to type 55 turn motor.

You do know that the XL-5 can only run on a maximum of 9.6 volts nimh/nicd or a 2S lipo?

Yea I know I sold my 3s lipos and going with 2s lipos. Im thinking that will good. I dont need it to be a speed demon. But will see. Its mostly testing and tuning right now as not many people have been doing much with them that I could find. Im going with more of a trail truck if I can get it to do 20 25 mph on the top end I think I will be happy with it.

What's the number of turns mean? :unsure:

The number of turns indicates how many times the wire is wrapped around the armature. A 55T means the wire is wrapped 55 times around the core of the armature. And so on. More technical a turn number of 19x2 for example, means there are 2 separate wires wrapped 19 times around the armature. The less the number of turns faster the motor. More number of turns the motor has more torque. Pretty sure This is accurate. :)
