it's about time..i always dreaded the winters here in Virginia because it's always so wet and miserable. now, we have alternatives that don't effect the warranties. for that, i'm very grateful. if i had to weather another winter of freakin' sedan racing i was gonna go CRAZY!!! :)

sweet, might just have to order one. How well do these protect against water, obviously u can't drive it in a lake and still have it be waterproof, but say bashing in the snow-would this completely protect against water? I have had a few servos short out before just from driving through a water puddle by accident, i would hate to have that happen to the castle mmm. For battery removal, does the cover block the battery compartments, if so, is it very easy to just unhook the cover and pull the batteries

Hopefully mine truck should be here any day now. I know they shipped it back ground UPS. That was almost 5 days ago. From what I have read and heard from them it protects against water just fine. The water just beads off the material they use. Can anyone give me a link for the magazine. I would like to buy it to save.

I've got one in the mail as well. I was going to get the MMM cover but this'll keep the rocks off everything else too. Hopefully it breathes well enough that I can run it during the summer too. Thanks for getting the ball rolling, guys!

Silly question, but can you put the shell on the car using that? where are the pics???

kirbysdl
01-24-2011, 09:49 AM
If the shell was on, it'd be difficult to see the shroud, so there aren't any pics. Given the design of the shroud though, I don't see why it should be a problem. The real challenge will be to integrate the shroud with the RC Solutions roll cage ... those middle supports will need holes poked through the shroud.

RC there is a picture in the link in the first thread. Not a very good one.

the only problem will be the rollcage , else it just fits

Now just from looking and feeling it, the cover seems to be well made with great material used. This is as far as I will go with what I think until I get the other cover from Vlad.

Vlad from the forums has contacted me and sent me out one of his covers today so I can do a unbiased review of both and report back with my thoughts. I have came up with a 3 part review:
Part 1: Out of the box, thoughts, durability, pros/cons, etc.....
Part 2: Running vids, water, sand, dust, mud, and anything else I can think of. (sorry no snow here so I cannot do that but I am sending sandblaster a member here the other cover I got and he will be doing some tests as well and hopefully he has snow there)
Part 3: After thoughts

Now I am not getting paid to do this nor trying to advertise any of these covers. Just a hobbiest like you that was offered to do a review. If you would like to add or change the 3 steps above, please fell free to comment below as this is my first time to do something like this.
Thanks

Terry

Hi Terry, thanks for doing the comparison. The Outerwears cover seems a bit loose around the front shocks. It looks like it's pulled back a bit. It'd be nice to know if and how much that can be adjusted, to help keep debris out.

I'd like to use this to keep out dirt and rocks in the summer, too. Since they market their products to protect against such debris, and the increased airflow through the material to keep things cool in warm weather is one of the main selling points over the other glove, please evaluate how well it would do in a dirty summer setting. Thanks!

kirbysdl, remember Outwears main production is to do just that on air cleaners on all kinds of quads, cycles, cars, etc that play in the dirt, sand etc. They have earned much praise and acceptance for their fine products, and have become a standard for motor protection and longer life on air cleaners in the motorized recreation communities.

Oh, I certainly remember. =) It's specifically because of that reputation that I'm curious about how this particular model performs. Like I said, there's a rather wide scoop around the front shocks, and dust tends to stay airborne a lot longer than slushy snow. The shroud could protect just fine against snow yet let a ton of dirt/sand/etc. in through this or other gaps.

In short, I know of their reputation. I just hope they live up to it with this specific product. =)

And this is the reason i will go with outerwears rather than the "glove". I'm deffinately looking forward to the review divey!

If the dust can get inbetween the shocks then maybe we could just add a little bit of black foam inbetween the shock tower to "block" the dust.

The only problem i see is people may complain about not being able to use sway bars.

Looks good. It looks like with the little bit of slack around the shocks sway bars should fit ok. One thing I noticed with the original glove I am running is that with the large ******* heatsink/fan on my motor it is a tight fit up top but it will close. I'm wondering if this cover has enough slack up there for a fan/heatsink on the motor. The CC blower is more commonly used and doesn't stick up quite as high so I'm sure it will fit with this cover but I'm not sure if the combo I have would work. What do you think Terry, how much space is available above the motor?

Divey1130

There is enough room for a heatsink or CC blower. You have some options for mounting it using the supplied velcro by keeping it high or low on the sides. Looks like they put mine in the middle.
