hi... new here. just got back into r/c after nearly 6 years out. decided to start with a new 1/16th Summit VXL... and of course, i have to mod it... so here go the questions:
1. will the parts from RPM designed for a 1/16 e-revo also work for the summit? the a-arms and axle carriers specifically.
2. ghhobby.com has a few parts for the mini e-revo - e.g. alum shock towers, skid plates, etc. - will these work for this chassis too? wouldnt mind getting some shiny stuff on the truck
3. will the wheelie bar for the e-revo work for this chassis too?
thanks in advance...

1. yes.
2. yes, except the rockers they are larger on summit.
3. don't think so, but not sure, one merv the wheelie bar is mounted on the wing mount, the summit does not have it, maybe one of those attached to the rear skid plated.

are the skid plates from ghobby the same as the stock one just aluminum ? i knwo t bone makes a full center skid for the revo (i have one) but adds a ton of weight. i would like to get the summits belly a bit smoother.

they should fit, the chassis are the same.

thanks for the replies, guys... much appreciated
i noticed on comparing the 2 parts lists for the e-revo + summit, that there is an R designation for both of them on the rear suspension arms... does anyone know if the rear a-arms from RPM add the extra 10mm of length to the wheelbase, or are they stock like the non-R factory e-revo parts?
as for the ghhobby aluminum parts.... yes. from what i can see theyre just AL versions of stock parts. i just want something a bit tougher to survive jumps.

The RPM rear arms keep the wheel base the same as the standard Revo, they do not add the extra 10mm to the wheel base.

I can confirm Dadx2mj's post. I have the RPM A-Arm sets on both the front and rear of my Summit VXL. They do not add any additional wheelbase.

thanks.... so when you pulled off the stock summit's arms, the geometry of the rear susp didnt change, correct? RPM arms are a 1:1 exchange?
this makes me curious... the arms from RPM are based on the brushless 1/16 revo then? or are all the arms like that...? the part numbers are: 7132 and 7132R for reference. the summit's parts list only has the 7132R listed.

From what I could see, no. Be warned, I'm a bit of a noob... However, they looked to be a direct replacement.
To be honest, I'm not sure of that part number question. I just checked to make sure the part numbers were the same (when I ordered the RPM arms). There is a SLIGHT rub on the rear drive shaft and the upper A-Arm. I do know that.

I am pretty sure the Summit comes with the extended wheel base arms stock. They are an option for the Mini Revo but stock on the mini Summit. So if you put RPM arms on a mini Summit you will be shortening the wheel base.

After doing some quick eyeball work (I'm too tired to tear this beast down to check for sure) I think Dadx2mj is right. The RPM a-arms do appear to be slightly shorter than the stock Summit VXL arms. I didn't even check when I put them on (I had a spare set that I never used, and I broke two stock arms on the Summit the first day). I guess I haven't noticed a ton more roll-overs with the shorter arms, although I'm sure the longer arms stock arms would help.
I bet that explains my slight arm/rear drive shaft rub...

great! thanks for the clarification... good to know seeing how i have yet to order them. ill hold off ordering the rear arms until RPM makes the adjustments. hopefully i was able to shed some light for others down the same path of upgrades

dahkyne, I just broke right & left rear arms during this afternoons bash.
I found a site that y'all probably know all about but they say that the parts are a perfect fit.
I'm not ready to PAY for these parts...yet so I'm just gonna have to go with the Traxxas parts for now.
but here's a link to some aftermarket stuff: http://www.hot-racing.com/index.cgi?partnumber=VXS556HR01;c=604

integy makes a wheelie bar that works great on the 1/16 summit. took me about 30 sec to put it on

RPM had stated in the past that they will not be making the extended wheelbase arms. These arms create non-ideal axle geometry.
Also, these extended arms do not add any distance between wheels on the same axle; therefore no difference in how easily it rolls over.
They do, however, add 10mm between the front and rear axle; making the vehicle longer.

The driven production wheelie bar intended for the 1/16revo works great on the summit without modding. It simply requires removing the rear bumper and flipping the bumper support upside down to get the wheelie bar wheels low enough to be effective. My son has tortured the set up for several bash sessions and its holding up great.
