Hi All,

Does anyone know the effect of putting the RAD RC 4 shoe clutch on my 4-TEC? Will it accelerate better or what?

Thanks,

Stan.

I dont know about the rad rc clutch but the M.I.P clutch will make a pretty good difference in accleration. I would get the m.i.p. clutch.

Or you could try the aluminum shoes from rcalloys.com. I installed them last night on my Maxx, and they hook up great, I think there is very little slipping or none at all. they are $18.50 shipped if you order them from thier web site. So just another option, plus you dont have to buy and install a new fly wheel, they fit right on the stock one.

Whoa whoa, before you go off and spend money, why don't you tune the stock clutchs, you can do a lot to those clutchs without ever spending a dime.

First of all, you can turn the clutchs around and this will make a huge difference in how the car accellerates. By turning the clutchs around you have now made the trailing edge lock up rather than the leading edge, this causes them to take a fraction longer to lock-up which gets the engine closer to where its powerband is starting.

Another option after that is to drill a 1/16 " hole in the shoes to lighten them up, which will cause them to lock up even later, just dont go too far or you will have them slipping all the time.

I always try to mod my stock parts before I go and spend money on new ones, at the very least I learn something new about the car and still buy the aftermarket parts.

Good Luck,
