I was thinking of upgrading to an O.S. CV-X Hyper and was wondering if it is really worth the $170 it costs. Please give me your feedback.

haha i just responded to your other post in another forum with the same subject basicly.

anyway try porting your stock motor first, since you have an aftermarket pipe and filter you should see some nice gains in power and its totally free as long as you have a dremel.

my truck wants to lift the front tires off the ground and just a small bump will sky them, if i had an 18 tooth clutch bell along with a better pipe and filter i think it will do standing start wheelies.

Eric tells how. He uses the same technic that I use except I like to use a steele HPI round .15 rod with a few mods.

honestly i'm not highly skilled with a dremel i just took my time and did it slowly, the motor fired right up like i hadn't done a thing after. but it did run stronger. personally now that i have done it i found it extremely easy to do.

i didn't do it exactly the same as eric, i choose a way to dremel that suited me, i did all the ports through the top of the motor. if you have run the motor then you have fuel stains or burns on the block you can use as a guide after you remove the sleeve so all you do is remove material where there is a stain, very simple. i only cut them as deep as the stock port was for the port depth, all you're really doing is extending the stock ports to match the ports on the sleeve.

if you don't want to you dont have to do the rod or mess with the sleeve really. i would still taper the exhuast port on the sleeve slightly though. i may try enlarging the exhaust port on the sleeve to match the block but i am worried about chipping the chrome inside so i will probably try it on a junk sleeve first.

Yeah, i also noticed that the sleeve's exhaust port was small and was thinking about expanding that and putting that in, and now that im getting so much feedback, i think i will port it. Judging from what u said, it should be easy to do, and my case is plenty burnt (the last piston and sleve were COMPLETELY black). I will, but if i do mess up i AM getting the hyper. I hope it works. BTW, has anyone melted the annodization off their exhaust header yet? Is this normal? The cooling head is also turning silver, and doesnt look too happy.

that actually sounds like a better idea, you can port your trx for free and if you screw it up you can always buy the hyper motor.

my header is turning black instead of silver, it looks like ****, i have heard of poeple stripping the anodize off with oven cleaner so the whole thing is silver.

you want the gpm head too. i also want to look at the kinwald kool punk head, i haven't seen it yet so it will be 1 of the 2 depending on design and actually cooling surface.

people have been saying that getting a larger header adds some useable hp as well, so i am looking into that too. the big tube header is only 25 bucks.

Yeah, my header is just black too. The head is silver though. It seems like the header is burning it and the head is just wearing it away... I wanted to get the GPM cooling head anyway.
