Ok after switching for a pull start on my trx engine I pulled too hard and broke the spring. So I bought a new recoil starter. So I take it out of the bag and place it on my engine but it would not fit, well it fit but there was a small gap between the back of the engine and the pull starter enough of a gap that I could not put the screws in. So I looked at it and saw that it was because the spring had become overlapped inside which cause the round part to pop out a bit and prevent the pull starter from fitting flush with the engine. So I tried to pull the round part out so that I could push the sring back into place. Well just my luck, the spring goes boing and completly unwinds itself. So now how do I rewind this thing and to put it back in the case.
Thanks

aahhh...you in for a hard time. when youthink it is perfect...boing and your back to squar one. try this: wind the spring off the spool then wind the string onthe spool then stick the spool on the spring and jam it back in the case. I did not want to go into that much detail cause it can get lengthy and my hand will cramp up.

Rewinding a starter is not as bad as it sounds. Just the finger cramps are the worst part.
Let me know if this helps you.
