I just got a traxxas blast about a week ago. I'm only able to run two batteries through it before the motor gets VERY hot. One does somebody carry a water cooler for this and two can I run a different motor like a P2K or a camillion in it without burning it about. Any help would be very appreciative.

I think you could run a stock motor like the p2k in your Blast fine. I heard the water cooler from the Villian will work, but it will slow your Blast down. Mine gets hot too, but I jump let it sit and cool down, I don't want to sacrifice my speed to a water cooler.

you shouldn't run back to back in the first place unless you have some sort of cooling. after every run the motor needs time to cool down. i would not recommend the water cooling because as alracer said, it would slow the boat down considerably. instead, i take a cooler with ice cubes in ziplock bags that i put on the motor after each run. this helps out greatly in the cooling process as i'm back on the water in a matter of minutes. the rule to play by is if you can't keep your fingers on the motor for at least 10 seconds, it's still not safe to run again. as far as changing the motor, i would say to stick with the stinger until it goes bad. hope this helps!

for a beginners boat, the blast is a good choice. you can't compare it to something like the villain or kyosho's jetstream because they are both in a different class. with an octura prop and some other mods the boat is not that bad. afterall, the blast is mainly ideal for ponds and pools.

First off--if you don't have something good to say.......now on to the subject at hand. I have equipped my Blast with a Trinity Monsters of Touring 19T Double and a Trinity large anodized aluminum heatsink. This combo works well and provides the boat with decent speed for its size. Traxxas does make a water cooling kit specifically for the Blast....check with your local dealer. His dealer catalog will have a copy of the installation instructions. I have one of these kits, but have not installed it yet. Looks to me like it shouldn't affect the speed too much. The Trinity heatsink is working well enough as long as I don't make back-to-back runs. Now what's an octura prop and where can I get one?

The Blast is a great little boat. You might say it is for beginners but with a few mods it can walk all over a Villian. I have a speedgems 17t motor in it with a cooling kit and it hauls a**. One important upgrade is to add an Octura prop. I have run the X632, and the X435 . I have not had time to do alot of testing but I think the X435 is the way to go. It has a little less pitch than the X632 but it is also has a slightly larger diameter. More prop in the water is a good thing. With the X632 on the boat it will not pourpose but very slightly. With the same trim setting and the X435 all the boat does is pourpose. Thus meaning that the boat is going faster. I have not trimmed the boat out but with proper trimming the X435 should improve speed significantly. With just the X632 on the boat I could run circles around my friends Villian. One note: The villian was stock except for the addition of Octura Props.
Besides at $150 (stock) it is a really nice boat. Yea, there are a few things I would have done different if I were designing the boat but all in all it is O.K. and is alot of fun on the pond in my neighborhood.

The best prop. for increasing the speed on the Blast is the 2132 or 2135.

CChase,
Are those Octura Props?? I can't find those numbers listed in there charts. Have you tried the x435 prop?

The propellers I listed are Octura, and are the same price as the X432 and X435.
The thing that separates the X432 and 435 that everybody uses is that those are the exact same as the stock propellers, and therefore do not do anything but add looks.
The 2132 and 2135 have a LOT more pitch and are therefore a lot faster.
