An E-clip is a nasty little bugger. Fortunately, there are only 2 on the Villain on the steering shaft ends. They are little metal pieces that snap on really tight onto little grooves (it usually takes about 10 tries until one doesn't go flying off or gnarl your finger). To get them is H E L L as well and you can't get them off without gnarling your fingers or breaking them (and usually both.

I found magnets are very handy when dealing with those clips!

Have you ever discovered a method of taking them off or putting them off that doesn't make them bend or flick off into another world?

They arent that hard to put on if you use needle nose pliers. Just set the e clip on the grove then use the needle nose to clap it down, it works really well. Getting them off is still a paint though.
