I've never seen someone who has claim to clock one on a radar, but I've heard speeds of 20 - 25 mph is average. I will say though, that it goes fast enough if it's your first nitro boat.

What about with a new prop.

Well I hear that the propeller on the stock NV is a joke, so with a new one it would probably hit close to 30-35mph maybe. Then with tuned aluminum exhaust pipe, it will be blazin!

It's true the stock prop is a joke and so is the cooling system. Ocatura sells good props but they prolly need to be orderd direct. A small oil pump for a plane will fix the cooling prob. Subaru had a good idea of cutting the center out of a heat sink head and bolting it to the water cooled one

I think my post below started this topic... If you follow Pires's suggestions the Vee will do about 25 mph leaned to the edge. When I bought this boat I was somewhat bummed by the performance of it. Traxxas, the prop you put on your boat is a joke!!! Why did you do this? I put an octura x440 prop on this boat and it no longer overheats or cavitates and goes much faster. This web site explains it all. Buyer beware, if you dont follow these instructions you will be unhappy with this boat. If you follow these instuctions, you will be a happy nitro vee owner.
The most important thing to do is change the prop. You have to buy an adapter to do so. I know a hobby shop that sells the part needed to add the prop to your boat(less than 10 bucks). E-mail me if you want their phone number Benwl@yahoo.com http://www.pirespreto.com/traxxas.htm
please read the previous post for the phone number to the shop that sells the parts.. )LATERHey boatboy I got your e-mail sorry I took so long to reply
I don't know if Traxxas will allow this on their site mabye? Here is the part number that will allow you to use the Octura prop on your vee.(OCGCSS PROP STUB SHAFT) Call this number if you cant find the part anywhere else (9048809500). It's a H/S in Jacksonville Fla..They carry the x440 prop and the extension. You can get both parts for under 20 bucks plus shipping...hope this helps It's worth the money and effort. The Vee really flies with this hop-up.
