View Full Version : Hmmmmm.....DUAL .21s?

Well guys...do you think this is possible or worth the Experiment? Of course i'll hafta have some Special parts made, but other than that, will i have enough torque? Would i need Smaller gearing? The RPMs would be awesome. I'm really tempted, but i'm sure it'd be hard to get Dual .21s tuned Exact unless they were on a Dyno. Any input guys?-Matt

Well, I dont think it would be the best idea, but I am for sure not someone to say that it cant be done! http://www.traxxas.com/ubb/wink.gif
I dont think the 1/6 scale MB would be the best chassis to do it on, just to much weight, plus, you will have to do alot of work to the gear boxes to get things lined up. And after all that, I doubt you will have any better performance than you do now.
On the other hand, I have some stuff planed for the MB. If the Mag. will showcase it like my other work, I will be doing a dual Zenoah 4wd MB. http://www.traxxas.com/ubb/smile.gif

i think that a dual .21 on the buggy would be unique looking but performance wouldnt be there, you would need like 4 .21's to get the torque it has now.it would go about 160 mph when it did get there though lol. that would be insane. Dual zenoahs? that is a goal i could see being attained. too cool, you got my vote!!

Need- the only problem is that its not that popular. R/C Car will want to see something (like I have done in the past) that most people get, and the MB just doesnt do it. But, I might still do it anyway, though it would be insaine as far as power.
hmmmm.....maybe powering the front wheels off the the rear. some different gears,a belt, another rear diff. yeah, I can see that working. http://www.traxxas.com/ubb/smile.gif

yes, gears are turning in my head.

NO dual 21's won't have the torque that you would need. Try 60's! As for tuning, try making an intake manifold between both engines using a common carburator, this wuold make sure that both cylinders are getting the same amount of fuel. Mount both carbs on the manifold too, that way you would have enough capacity to run 2 engines. When you gear both together with a common manifold you would have the same as if you had one engine. You could always try more than two of any type of engine.

what about 4 strokers?

4 strokes would be hard to tune because you would have to make sure that the valves were all set exactly the same, otherwise even with a common carb it would be hard to make them match perfectly, but it can be done.

Well the reason i thought about the Duel .21's is because the Zenoah weighs so much. I think the Motor is about 1/2 of the Entire weight of the MB. Sure, .21's wont have the Low End Power, but with Lower gearing it could work. The Total HPs would be Double the Zenoah's power. Dual Zenoahs would be total Overkill, there's just no room and It wouldn't give you any Xtra RPMs. Dual .21s would Weight less AND take up the same amount of space as One Zenoah. There's also this Motor Made by Sachs-DelMar that Weighs 7Lbs and puts out 9 HP! Talk about overkill, but boy'd that be a Killer huh?-Matt
