View Full Version : How well does it jump?
03-16-2001, 10:09 PM
Im thinking of getting one, and I was wondering how well it could jump. Being so heavy, does it tend to break if you land wrong?
Could you list some pros and cons of it?
Thanx for your time.

jumps quite well once you get used to it.
pros= durability, has alot of power, run times longer then you would even bother to time, handles well, more fun then any car ive ever had. im sure the others here will add to this list also
cons= very limited selection of tires, next to nothing aftermarket accessories by other manufacter's for it.

Cool! I think I will be investing in one. Its just too intimidating to pass up! http://www.traxxas.com/ubb/wink.gif
As far as tires, can we not just get some slicks and cap them with some real treads?

well ive been trying to find pnumatic tires for mine since ive had it but no luck, ive never re-treaded a tire like that but i think it would be possible, you can get the pin type or the slicks so that covers alot but there are alot of things i would like to see made for it. btw, that truck is beautiful.

I know I shouldent have but I took all the oil out of the rear shocks and it handles sweet now!Ive gotten the techniqe of jumping down to a sience now(and no I will not share my secret(LUCK!!!),And the things only con as I can see is the nose dive on a jump INTO a ditch.Ha ha.Other than that its kick @$$!!!I love the run time and durability and speed!I dont care for the hop ups,I think its plenty fast enough,(Till I get use to the speed,Then may be sway bars?)But I love it and I have every kind of rc(with 4 wheels) there is.Youll love it!And as need4speed said "Nice truck"!!!

OK. Thats it. Im sold. http://www.traxxas.com/ubb/smile.gifJust a matter of saving up some money.
Seems strange though that something that big only has 1" ground clearance though. Maybe I can do some mods to it.... http://www.traxxas.com/ubb/wink.gif

i think i raised mine to about 1 1/2 inches now for better clearance but i also lowered the amount of drop the front a arms have alot. when at speed it would push the front wheels because of the front wanting to lift up, i didnt change the ride height by doing this i just changed the down travel and it helps alot for off road handling. i set it as far down as i could so the shocks still have about 1/4 inch left before they bottom out when its at the bottom of its travel, shocks are in the second to highest position on the bottom and the stock position on top.

Thanx for the info!
One more question......how long does the 7.2 pack last? With the gas lasting so long, does the battery run time become an issue?

i use a 5 cell sub c 1800 mah which lasted for 3 tanks so far, dave has a 7.2 and i think it will last a year or 2 with it only running servos, they last long enough to where a person doesnt really keep track

Dang. Im suprised. I have some real good 6 cell packs laying around, I think they would be happy in the M. Buggy. hehehe

you have to change a couple things to get a 6 cell in it but dave has posted exactly how to do it, great post dave!!.

so far the 6 cell lasts pretty good but those big 1/4 servos do give it a little work

I have the 5 cell 6volt sub c battery pack and it out lasts me!And A tank of fuel!Plus I have a volt meter on it to tell me exactically where the juce is.So I dont have to sweat it either.
i wold say if one of thes things let loose thean it culd kill some one
