View Full Version : After run oil and Restarting

I cant say for a fact why this happens, but I have experienced cases where I put in to much after-run oil and it does take a little longer to get started. But I do get it started rather quickly after I pinch the intake line just long enough for the engine to kick over then release it. But after about a minute everything cleans out and I am ready to rip. And I have had this happen with a freashly charged 1700 battery also. Only thing I know to say is just stay with it and give it time to clean out.

yea the oil isnt flammable so it puts out the flame so like they say give it time to clear out and dont use so much oil.
every heartbeat ends with a stroke.

I have a question about my 4-tec and the problem I had starting it.
(First of all I'm Very new to this, and I got my car second hand... I know two strikes against me.)
Anyhow.. I filled up the Tank and hit the starter button... Motor came to life right away! Ran about 3.5 tanks of gas and let it cool and put 3-5 drops of after run oil... Hit the starter button to cycle the oil and put the car up.
Next day I take the car out and give it a bath with "electronic cleaner" LHS is out of NitroWash... Let it dry and fill the tank up to run it and the engine won't start.... Just turns over and over.. (Red oil comes out of exaust pipe..) Later that night I give it a shot again and re-set the carb's idles still no luck... I dump out the Fuel ready to send the car back, put a couple drops of after run oil and hit the switch to lube the motor.... and it starts. (now I'm real confused.) Anyhow... Refill the tank and run the car for two tanks.. This time I only put 2-3 drops of After Run Oil... and Now I post...
What could have happen here? Too much Oil preventing the motor from starting? or Low battery to the starter/glow plug? Any help???
Be careful not to put too much afterun oil, since that would also cause your engine to hydro lock just as in the case of over priming.

I use about 6-8 drops of after run oil in mine. Sounds like your glow plug is weak, or a low battery. The after run is killing off the glow plug. Try using after run oil as usual, but install a new glow plug when you run your car the next time. If you prime the engine, (finger over the exhaust) it should start right up. If so, throw away the old plug.
