what shuld the tension between the cluth bell( i think thats what its called) and the spur gear be?? i just got my engine back and am anxious to run it again....

tension? you mean gear mesh? just put a piece of notebook paper between the clutchbell and spur gear. it should not be tight enough to rip the paper, just to leave imprints

and the spur gear should be able to freewheel easy without binding

Just do what 2 muddy flyin trucks said to do. I just replaced mine and did it and works great!!
