Okay, if Traxxas says shipping 11 Oct, does that mean they ship them to retailers on that day? Or does it mean companies like Tower already have them and will ship them to customers on the 11th? Never dealt with a back order like this and I am impatient. Anybody know how this usually works?

Pretty sure the date given is the date that Traxxas will ship the new car to it's vendors. It would be unlikely Traxxas would be giving a date that all vendors would be ready to ship on and that all the vendors would be ready to ship on the exact same date.

Don't be too impatient. New vehicle releases are always a waiting game. I believe that traxxas is not rushed to make a pre Christmas release this time. I doubt that it will be delayed long. This was an easy r&d task for them as opposed to designing an entirely new car. I would guess they are ready this time.
