Need a bit of a crystal ball here. Is it under initial warranty? Has it been abused? Traxxas motors (IIRC) are not covered by their Lifetime Electronics Warranty. They **may** hook you up anyway, depending on the particulars. Traxxas has excellent customer service.

Can you just replace the 2 bearings? That would be cheaper than a full replacement.

Yes, replacing bearings is an option on most motors.

I had a Velineon motor with bad bearings. I replaced them with Boca Econo Series (black seal) and it is as good as new. I think the metal shielded bearings that come stock in the motor aren't too good as that motor didn't have much use and I maintain my trucks pretty good.

Sealed bearings are not usually recommended for motor internals. Metal shields cause less drag. I'm glad the Bocas are working for you. I like them too, in general.

Yeah, I was kinda wondering if they were a good choice. I had them on hand and I figured I would see how they hold up and replace them with some actual motor bearings if neeed. I've problably run about 5-6 packs through the motor since changing the bearings and they are good so far.

If you call traxxas they may send you replacement bearings.
I had issues with the stock motor bearings, i suddenly felt the drivetrain had some binding and traced it down to the motor.
I thought for sure the bearings were done, but i just used some bearing oil and months of use and I still havent used the bearing replacements I have....
Just oil the motor bearings after use and they should last a long time....

You could try and oil them, contact traxxas and get a rebuild kit on the way.. That way maybe it will run till the kit or bearings from traxxas get there..

Two bearings are six bucks at LHS, it's five minute fix, why bother sending to traxxas?

i keep bearings in my tool box for these VXL motors , they go bad all the time from dirt and dusty tracks .... you don't need the $12.00 kit .

The bearings are fairly easy to replace. I use a socket that fits in the hole and tap on the bearing until it comes out.
