Is it possible to put a slide carb on a stock Traxxas 15 engine? If so what carb? How to do it? Is it worth it?

I wouldn't buy a new slide carb to upgrade your stock carb. You won't notice THAT much difference, except in acceleration, which is a little smoother. If you wish to have a slide carb, save and get a new engine that already has one on it, and has more power anyway.
Hope it turns out great!

What would be a good engine? Keep in mind I use my car mostly for fun in the parkinglot so I don't want to spend alot of money on a new motor. I don't think I want a Traxxas motor. The one I have always runs hot (275 with the highspeed needle out as many as 4 turns)with my friends OS running at about 215. Also mine is very hard to tune or keep running. Thanks for the help.

Ok, i need to know thse questions:
What are you looking for? (top speed engine, lowend power engine)
How good of a tuner are you? (this plays a big roll in the engine selecting process)
Whats your price range?
If you want both low end power, and high end speed, and are a good tuner, go for the Novarossi CX12. Its $160.
If you want lowend power, and are an ok tuner, either get an O.S. CV, or hyper cv. Those two range anywhere from $90 to $170, which is too much (the hypers).
If you want high end speed, and are an ok tuner, get the HPI 15ss, $135.
The best engine I have owned is a Novarossi CX12. It first of all is ABC construction, which means it will last much longer before having to rebuild the piston/sleeve, but takes a couple more tanks to break in. But its worth it! It cranks out 1hp without mods, and is superfast, and is a good value. But, it is harder to tune because it has a lowend setting, a rich/lean setting, and an idle setting. Each of them makes a difference in small incremements so it takes longer to tune if your not too experienced. Mine, before my dad modified it could get my car up to its top speed of about 65mph in about 3.5 to 4 seconds. When I put fatter tires on it, it got up to top speed in about 3 secs!
The CV and CV Hypers are mainly for lowend torque, meaning better accel, but top end is bad. They have a tad more power than a TRX pro, and run cooler. Plus they are rather low cost for an engine.
The HPI Nitro Star 15ss is bad at accel, but is better at top end power.
Conclusion:
If you save up to $160, definately go for the Novarossi CX12. You will save money in the long run(about 1 1/2 years), because it requires less rebuilds if you are nice to it. It will get you awesome acceleration, and kick *** on the straights.
Good luck to ya!

OK what I'm looking for is a engine that has good low end power but will at least match the 15 with high end power. As for tuning, This is my first gas powered car and I have had problems tuning it. Alot of that was from people giving me bad info. I do want a ABC engine for long life. I don't need a balls to the wall engine that I can't control. My N4T all stock ezcept for a graphite rear shock tower, brake and swaybars.

Well, then if you have either a bump start or starter box, then the O.S. CV-R would be a good choice if you can afford it. The CVs and CV Hypers are NOT ABC engines. The CV-R is. The CV-R goes for about $170, and the Nova CX12 is 160 with a PS, but is hard to tune for a beginner. Remember the TRX PRO-15, and the CX12 have the same number of needle settings, but the nova requires more precision when tuning (turning the CX12 carb 1/8 turn richer or leaner is too much of an increment!). The CV-R is easier to tune, and is close performance to a Nova.
If you race your car, get the CV-R, if you just bash, and speed around, then I would think a little bit longer about what you want. Most engines are either good at accel or top end power, the good ones have both. And I don't think a basher needs one of the top engines, but if you plan to race in the future, go for it man!
For ferrari, UP YOURS!!! I've had enough of you! I'm tring to help someone pick out the the best engine for someone online, which is harder than real life, and your just being a pain is the ***! If you walked the hobby shop i work at, I would have you booted out if you started causing this kind of childish behavior. Its the people like you that screw up these places.
