I picked up a motor that's supposed to run with sensored or sensorless esc's. Well it runs crappy with my sensorless esc (vxl). This is a 17.5 motor.
Can anyone recommend a sensored esc that they have used and like?

You do realize the VXL has a port for the sensor right? Is it running this motor badly with the sensor wire connected or are you running it without the sensor wire?

No I didn't know that... I thought the vxl was sensorless. I'll give it a try when I get back into town and see if it helps.
I'm running it without the sensor wire b/c I thought the vxl wasn't compatible with it.

If you're racing, the only answer [to me, my opinion only] is the Tekin RS for a 17.5 ;)

For sensored and racing. Tekin RS. Tekin also runs sensorless and dual mode and the new vegas208 is amazing.

I don't race anymore. :(
I think I'll see how well the vxl runs it then go from there.

Some ppl are reporting problems when using sensored mode on the VXL. IDK if the VXL has high amount of timing. It was on the forums. Give it a shot.
