View Full Version : Please Help Car Seem's Very Slow

Purchased a used e revo and i am just getting around to setting it up at first it seemed slow but i figured the original problem out. The original owner plasti dipped the esc and had the wires reversed via the motor so i was running it in 50% reverse throttle Fowards so i went on castle link and reversed the motor and all seems ok now. Now my problem is that the car seems slow , reprogrammed the esc and i am updating the castle link firmware but i know thats not the problem . It could just be my gearing , i am running a 65t spur and 21t pinion , i put the 21 pinion on myself as the car had a 18t and the 65t spur is what came with it , i am looking for the 60+ mph claims , how do i achieve that or maybe someone can chime in about this problem i am having ,, running 4s right now also , why did i have to go into castle link and reverse the motor , i dont like that lol...Thanks

4s for now 5000mah 30c , with 21/65 gearing do i need a bigger spur?

well the claim was with 6s and a very agressive gearing, but you should still be running about 40-45 with that setup I think. Is that about the speeds you are seeing?

40-45 mph on 4s or 6s Cultivate ? and SlotterHouse can you provide with the correct #'s to plug in on that speed calculator for the erevo bl edition ?Thanks

for 4s. And that may be a little off. I don't gps my truck, but I think that should be around the speed you will with 21/65 gearing.

should i go down to like a 55t spur with the 21t pinion for more speed? and will i have heat issues? Thanks

60+ MPH Claims ..... Do not come easily without some serious modifications:
Proper batteries = correct voltage and amps
Proper tires = balanced, glued, internally taped, etc.
Proper ESC settings = Castle Link
40 - 45 mph is a good speed to shoot for when starting out. IMO you need to learn how to "walk" first before you "run".

Bob this is not my 1st brushless vehicle , but thankyou for the chart . I am going to pick up a 56t spur and try for some more top end - Thanks
You need two more cells for 60mph. 60 from 4s is asking for a lot.

I don't think I would run 21/54 gearing on 4s for general running. Motor heat would probably become a problem. Speed runs would be good with that gearing. 18/54 is a good all round gearing for 4s assuming your running close to stock size tires. Either way your not going to see 60+ mph with out adding more battery cells.
BTW all the #'s you need are in there for the calculator Slotterhouse linked to. Motor kv is 2200. Tire size would be whatever size tires your running, but stocks are listed.

I hit the 190 F mark on my CC 2200 running 17/56 gearing... Now I agree that ambient being 105 F is hot, but if I could hit 190 F running 4s with stock tires, I absolutely agree with cubsfan about 21/54 being too much.
