my stock servo is glitchy, and i have a new spectrum high torque servo, the question is...

what is the waterproof part of these blue servos.. is it just the case? if that is the case i should be able to get a case for $5 bucks and put my spectrum which is a much better servo inside it...

am i dreaming here?

thank you in advance for your input...

I don't have any direct experience with trying to do what you've proposed, but know that different servos (models and especially brands) have different "gear trains" which fit inside the case. The gears can be of different sizes and positioned slightly differently. Besides that you've also got the little motor and other guts to worry about fitment for, but the gears are probably the biggest thing...

It's not really that common (to my knowledge) for 2 brands to have drop-in replacement cases that fit both.

or you can try to use the gaskets on your servo.

i can almost guarantee that those 2 servos internals will not be a straight swap, as said they will use different gear ratios which will then not mesh properly and the motor may not fit, the board may be a different shape etc

your best option for waterproofing is to open up the case and fill it with silicone sealant, plasti dip, liquid tape or somthing like that
then put some grease around the top gear of the motor and an O ring if it will fit without binding the gears up

i've had servos fully submerged with that method and had no problems so far... but obviously it will void your warranty and if it does fail dont blame me :p

I use this on my ace ds1015 servo to make it waterproof. just put this on the outside of your servo, let it dry for 15 minutes and your waterproof.
afterwards je just put it of. it stays elastic
