View Full Version : Fitting LiPo in my Slash
04-21-2010, 06:53 AM
So I bought a few 2S LiPo's from Hobby King but can not fit them in my Slash due to the fact the wires exit on the side of the battery. My question is what are guys doing to make them fit and remedy this? I do not really want to notch out the battery compartment. Thanks

That's what they have been doing. Sorry.

Your only choice is to notch the battery tray or buy different batteries. You'll most likely also need to widen the tray slightly. I've done it to several chassis's and it's doesn't hurt a thing. Only takes about 5 mins if you have a dremel or a drill with a 1 inch sanding roll.

yep, takes a minute or two.

Yep, you have to notch. Just be sure to only go down as far as necessary. Notching does weaken the chassis.
Someone else cut the tape at the front of their battery, so the wires could be moved. I haven't done it so can't speak on how effective that is.

Make sure the notch is rounded. Any sharp edge will easily break. Easiest way is probably using a dremel sanding drum, the size should be fine and the result will be a round notch.

Exactly what I did. Nice round notch, about a half inch wide. I've put some serious mileage on the chasis with no problems.

Return them to ********* and get the hard cased 500 mah 2s with the wires coming out from the top of the case instead...
or notch.. ;P
You don't need to notch. I put extra foam in and stand the batteries in it's side. My lipos are held down by Velcro. It works and I haven't lost a battery yet.

dont notch it. it significantly weakens the chasis's strength. i just duct taped mine in most of the way, with the terminal ends sticking out. im sure theres a better way, but im too cheap to try it

I had the same problem with a 3s battery from Hobby King.
This is what i did as 2 other friends of mine and works perfectly.
You can just warm the battery tray just where the 2 battery cables go in it when you try to fit the battery.
I use a heardryer for about one minute, then push the battery with some finger power untill it fits all the way down. Leave it there until the plastic cools again and take the battery out. Now the plastic have a small bend and the battery fit again and again with no prob.
This trick worked for 3 slashes i now so far.
And if you see the slash from upside you will not see any difference!!!
I hope this will help you!
(sorry for my english) (europe there)
