View Full Version : Looks like a good deal

Looks like a cheap vxl alternative.
How many amps can the vxl esc take constant?
EDIT: Maybe it wouldnt be so good?
Isnt the vxl 70amps constant and this is 35 amps constant?

I do not think there is a amp rating given for the VXL esc.

I might have to call traxxas and ask. They give a burst rating but no continuous.

They said 200amps continuous.
How can that exactly be when the mamba monster is only rated for 120amps continuous?

for there to be an alternative to vxl it must be waterproof. for me.

Looks like it can only handle 2s lipo. In my opinion thats not enough, you want atleast 3s. Run a VXL on 2s and 3s and you will see a world of difference.

My question is how is the mamba monster 150a and the vxl 200amps?

I think its more around 60 amps

Just checked the box---says 65 constant and 100 peak/burst
Oops sorry! That is for the motor. The esc says 200 amp continuous/320 amp peak

It is no VXL but I am very interested in seeing this in action. Cheaper then my EZRun was. Wonder if it can perform better? Motor definately looks a lot better then my EZRun motor.

doubt the ESC will ever pull more than the motor is asking for.

That esc looks soft. I think a 35a is to small for a slash. But hey for less than $60, let us know how it goes.
It wont be a mamba or a vxl, but still.

Im not being a guinea pig because I don't even have an appropriate vehicle to put it in.
I was just curious if anyone has seen it or not.
I still just don't get that vxl thing... 200amps con. when the MMM esc is 150amps continuous.
But if the motor is only 65 constant the esc would only be giving it that much.
Im guessing it would be more suited in a jammin crt .5 or something like that.

the motor draws amps, the battery does not push amps to the motor
your max/min is what the motor will draw from the battery, as long as your battery is capible of keeping up with it, its fine..

I still just don't get that vxl thing... 200amps con. when the MMM esc is 150amps continuous. It has to do with the way you figure the ratings. Different manufacturers use different ways to rate the amp draw, has to do with the phases and the mosfets. But you can be sure, that the MMM will handle more amps then a VXL.

So is this thing any good or should I go with the VXL?
01-29-2010, 07:54 PM
It would probably work alright on a mildly geared slash running 2s... you can be the official tester :P
01-29-2010, 07:59 PM
IF you put >200 amps through a vxl for a whole run it will fry. Going by castles standards its probably around 75a

hmm.. I'm curious about that set too. I only bash, so that would make it a cheap replacement for the original motor if it's any good.. I don't need 50 mph, just a bit extra speed would be nice already with a motor that doesn't wear out.
