Well i just got back from giving my rusty xl-5 a real good first run in a p-lot and it was great. My promatch 5000 7cell packs give it great speed and a good long run, and my hyperion charger works very well also. Cant wait to team up with my son this weekend :D
Thanks for all the help and suggestions and as i get more experienced hopefully i will be able to share some rusty wisdom.

Just wait till LiPo! Nice, I really never got to run a great NiMh pack, but the 2s LiPo is insane, can't wait for 3s!!
