I am getting my new emaxx tomorrow, and I was wondering what type of lipos to get, I have been looking at the Venom LiPo 2S 2P 7.4V 8000mAh 20C R/C Car Traxxas Plug, along with the venom charger as well, and the balancer. I really know nothing about lipos. Can you all give me any advice? I will be buying a complete set up..
Also, when I am looking at pics of lipo batteries, I always see the traxxas style plug, and beside it sits a small white connector. What is that small connector, and does it hook to my truck? If so, Where at? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
also, I take it the new trucks are ready for lipos. Will I have to do anything.

i personally would get these i got them for my erbe and they are great and much cheaper tha the ones you will get. also since i assume your talking about the embe you need/want 25c batteries or higher and those are 20c soi think you could fry your esc or batteries

here is the charger i got ( i got 2 of them 1 per battery so i can charge them faster)
but you will need a power supply

power supply (not sure if it works for it though)

you will also want a lipo sack in case it catches fire but i dont have a link for it
as for the small connector t only plugs into the charger and is the balance lead ( i think thats its name anyway)
also many people change their low voltage cut off so they dont destroy their batteries
for the batteies i linked you will have to solder the traxxas plugs on them

To the OP, zonda mentioned Lipo sacks...you can get them HERE (http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0095p?FVPROFIL=&FVSEARCH=lipo+sack).
And just to clarify, the extra white plug/connector on the Lipos are for Balancing the Batts.
So no, you will not be hooking it up any where on the vehicle...you will use that plug to connect it to the Balancer/Charger that you get to Balance the Batts.

just clarification, that(bold part) is not correct, whilst having a higher C rating is in fact better, IMO if the batts are rated for 120amps+ than you're generally good to go. the batts he was thinking of getting would produce 160 amps which would be more than sufficient.
with batts, I run batts from SPC (http://www.spcracing.com/index.php?categoryID=13) for all my trucks and they are great! They also have a 8000mah 7.4v 2S battery for $72.95 a pack.
with these you also need to make the order online, but they are US based.

Just because they are rated to give 20C or any amp rating doesnt mean they put that much out in every application, just means they are capable of it, they will put out as many amps that are needed up to their rating.

yes my bad, i should have added "up" to 160 amps. But with aggressive driving and braking with the mmm, many have recorded spikes well over 100amps.

EDIT: this one fits: http://www.*********.com/*********/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=9172

Half of the battery is in the air, which I don't like, but it works... Maybe, with part 3927X, bigger batteries will fit, but I still dont like the way they fit...

make sure you get lipos that are 25C or higher, as well 5000 and higher. the MMM requires 120amps to run more efficiently. hope this helps

Hi,
Unfortunatly I just realized that order that I placed for 4 x lipos is for a 20C rated one and not 30C.
I ordered ***** ********* 2S 5000mAh 20C for E-maxx 3908, you guys think is it going to be OK to use them or just sell them and get the proper ones, I dont want to burn any electronics?
Any input will be appreciated !!!
Thanks,

you will have no problem running those cells. i use crappy ***** batteries, 20c 5000mah 2s to be exact. standing backflips at half throttle. theyre more then enough to power it. they've also never gotten warm enough to even dictate taking the temp of the battery/esc/motor. geared somewhat low at 18/68 tho.

Hi Hexitnow,
What is your setup on E-maxx, I mean are you using the Brushless with Castle Momba Monster ESC ? just wanted to make sure, this is my first RC truck and I dont want to burn the ESC !!!
I think the gear settings out of the box is 17/68 and they put 20 gear too, If I use the 2s lipos I'll probably will set it to 20/68 !!!
Is that going to be OK ?
By the way how come we are not worring about the twin 7 cell Nimh that comes with it , I mean does anybody know the "C" rating on those !!!
Funny, just as I compile this reply I recieved my 2S 5000mAh Lipos , I am confused should I keep them or sell them and order the 30C ones !!!
Thanks for your reply

Honestly I would keep them. 20c is ample enough to power the MMM system, and yes thats what I run as well. Although my gearing is slightly lower then stock at 18/68, it's still faster then a stock twin titan. You're gearing should be fine, it's nothing drastic over stock. In fact I'll be running very close gear ratios to you but i'll probably run a 20/66 when I get around to buying my new pinions/spurs.
