View Full Version : Would you give up your 4x2 Slash over the 4x4?

While others are discussing how glad or disappointed with the Slash 4x4, I'm one of the glad ones :D It's about time...lovin' the new body too.

Having already own the 'original' Slash, simple question:
"Would you give up your 4x2 Slash over the 4x4?"

I personally..can't decide yet  I love my 2wd Slash too much...

i'd trade in a heartbeat, and my 2wd aint a pile of junk in any way, and i've spent more than the cost of the 4x4 on mine

I would get a 4wd.

Without a doubt the 4x4 is better,...but I wouldn't give my 4x2 just yet. Because it's THE original SC trucks. Just like KFC, you get the available options of the original recipe and extra crispy. The extra crispy is good, juicier...but it's always good to taste the original..

This makes the most sense to me! I guess I just don't understand the mindset of selling what you have to get the next big thing.....usually you cannot get anywhere near what you have invested(believe me..I know). Keep it!!! It's not any less fun than it was day before yesterday is it? Use it to introduce a kid, family member, or a friend to the hobby...let'm drive it and get them hooked!! You stand to gain soooo much more.

Regards, Jim.

 or just one if you haven't owned a slash. You can disconnect the front output shafts, and it'll be like the good 'ol days

I see many familiar names on this thread, but I'm glad that most of you are original Slash owners, including myself. Seem that the answers are 50:50, some will trade-in, some will buy the 4x4 and keep the 4x2.

What worries me though..are those new newcomers wanting to get an SC truck. I don't think they'll consider the original Slash. I won't..IF I haven't bought a Slash. I'm afraid this 4x4 Slash will 'kill' the original Slash market as more and more newcomers will, most likely, purchase the 4x4 version, especially with the more affordable XL-5. Soon the SC 2WD will be phased out.... :(

The 2wd Slash will never die. It's just the big seller, because of it's price.
The 4wd will be to expensive.

Pheww... Glad to hear that! Well I guess we will all become witnesses to the ongoing evolution of the SC class and see where the favor lies, 2wd or 4wd.

Dude..2wd will never die. The Slash is 180bucks, tough and very simple. The Slash4x4 is expensive to some people and more complex. Plus alot of people will probably run both classes. 2wd can be more challenging with more power :). I see no reason why a BL Slash wouldn't beable to hang with the Slash4x4. Good driving skills wins the race(80% of the time).

I would not trade mine for one but I would/will buy one depending on price.

I wanted mine to be 4x4 form the start but I never had a problem with 2wd. The only reason I got into the hobby when I did was the price of the slash to begin with. So I hope the price is reasonable at least. I mean that is a big reason the slash is so popular to begin with. I guess time will tell!

I would never let my 2WD slash go but there will be one of these in my collection in a year or so after the hype dies down.

I'm glad I held off and didn't buy the mini's.

4WD own's 2WD. If you have not had a 4WD buggie and 2WD buggie at the same time. You just don't have a clue.

I'm definitely keeping my 2WD Slash and convert it into a backslash otherwise it will be abandoned. Because 2WD is like Miley Cyrus and 4WD is Kate Beckinsale!

i dont own a Slash, but i do own a Rusty XL5 that i will let go like a hot potatoe. im thinkng about letting my touring car & 1/18 buggy go as well. im willing sell off 2 of my RC's if the price of the 4Slash is a wee bit pricey.
4Slash is the only nickname i can think of right now...

my dream TRX collection would be:
1.my custom Pede, b'cuz i luv the way it looks.
2.a new waterproof Pede hooked up for Xtreme bashing.
3.the new 4Slash b'cuz of its potential for racing/bashing.
id also add the JConcepts Illuzion body b'cuz it looks more aggressive.
hmm, sounds like a new thread.

2wd won't die out. Did 2wd buggies die out? Nope. Around here 4wd 1/8 scale in buggy and truggy are the big race classes, but there are definitely some great 1/10 2wd races. SC isn't that big around my area, but I do see quite a few slashes around.

I was going to save up for a slash 4x4, but now I need to get a new ESC for my 8ight-e 2.0. The xcelorin esc died and I've had just about enough of that esc so I'm going to purchase a MMM V3 tomorrow. My budget is done for a while :p

Where can I do this? LOL. Seriously, I have loved my Slash since day 1. It's amazing machine. I don't race because of lack of track, etc. But I run it hard on all surfaces and its amazing. I'm ready for a 4x4. Their video states it will be affordable and so many people define that differently that I may not get one until I sell or totally demolish my 4x2.

If we want to talk about representing in the real world most REAL pre runners/desert trucks ARE 2WD. 4WD has too many breakable (for lack of a petter word) parts for Long Travel and jumping. That being said when a runner gets stuck he calls his 4wd buddy to get him out. So Ill be buying a 4slash to pull me out when the going gets tough. ;) Lol but the 4wd slash looks like a beast and ill be buying one and racing one ASAP!!!! 2wd will never die though...has the mustang died? No we see a 67 shelby GT500 we dont go...the new one is better...we go dang that is a sweet machine...2wd will be the old B/A hot rods of SC racing ;) IMO

As soon as I saw it was a 4wd Slash, I though 'why didn't I sell my Slash!' Which is what I was considering anyway. But I think it would be fun to drive the two trucks on the same course and find out how much quicker the 4wd is.

My Slash - Sold
My friends slash - Sold
My other friends slash - Sold
My last friends slash - Sale pending..

We all race together and theres no real "stock class" in my area because our tracks suck and noone runs anything around here other then catering to the nitro's so for us, selling our slashes and getting the 4x4 ones was an easy choice. We love our slashes, but since we all drive together almost every weekend, were all taking the 200 we got from our sales, and just using it to pay for 1/2 the new one for next season.

My First Two RCs were the original Slashes about a year and half ago. They are fantastic. I also love the eRevos for larger rougher terrain. I willl definitely add this new 4x4 Slash to my collection.

Not giving up my 4x2s. I can keep them for the sand dunes and not have to switch it back and forth to a SC truck. Can't wait till December. I'll take 2 please
