would this be a good motor to run in the slash? and will it be ok with my stock esc? Its much cheaper than the 17.5t brushless system and the titan 12t is lacking at my track.

It'll work with the ESC no problem, and you'll find a performance increase over the titan however you might be happier going with something around 19t or 17t.. There's nothing wrong with running this one though.

yea but you cant run the 19t or 17t according to the roar rules or i would get something like that. But i think im gonna go with the trinity p2k2.

Get the P2K or the P2K2. They are very high torque motors. CHANGE THE STOCK CONNECTORS(the ones on the titan), to a high current connector(Traxxas is just easier to work with over dean). Make sure you break in the motor(DO NOT WATER DIP). They are great motors.

These motors are designed mostly for lightweight touring cars in quick races. They are sometimes very fussy with the gearing. When geared right though, they can be very powerfull and quick for a 27t. I'd buy some replacement brushes. I know a lot of 27t "stock" motors with advanced timing eat through them quickly.

Just as mentioned with the gearing keep an eye on tempretures for a bit

Hardcore, The P2k and P2k2 are high torque motors. They produce more torque then the monster and are easier to gear. The monster is a great all around motor but is sensitive to gearing. The Green machine 3 is a high rpm motor and is better suited for TC or carpet. If you can find the P2K, get it b/c that would be the best stock for the slash.

what should i gear it when i get? i run at a track built mainly for buggies and truggies(but the slash class is nearly the largest lol). it has a couple of jumps that the titan 12t cant clear but the 17.5t brushless cars can..I just need an idea where to start. lower? higher? how much lower or higher? lol

Always start with stock.

I mean will i prob end up having to gear it higher? Isn't it a real torquey motor compared to the titan? and i gues i should shoot for about 150 degrees or less after a 5 minute run? i dont know how to tell cause i am a newb.

I thought the lower the turn number the stronger the motor. So with identical gearing a 12t motor will be faster than a 17t motor. Or is that all wrong?

Most likely you will gear higher.

Lower turns give more rpm but less torque. The Titan doesn't even compare to a expensive handwound 12x2 motor. Stock and 19t are better suited for heavy off-raod trucks like the slash.

ok well i think i am going to get it now. lol. My LHS told me to start off with a 21 tooth pinion and the stock spur. that a good place to start?

I agree. My low speed Tamiya 27t Dirt Tuned motor produces similar if not more kick when compared to the Traxxas 12t motor.

i absolutely hate my 27turn. unless you get a smaller pinion, you will find they heatup pretty fast, and you will lose torque. shoot for a 19 or 17.http://teamorion.com/Products/Brushed+Motors/19T+Spec. coolecool recomended this to me.

You really must of done something wrong to especially to have problems with a stock motor. They run cooler and have some give on gearing then any other motor b/c of the torque. The P2K2 is a great stock motor for the slash.

there is a jump that i am not clearing and another guy with the 17.5t brushless is and its annoying me because it would take a good second off my lap times. this is why i started this thread in hopes that this motor could help me clear it lol.

ok dumb question what do you mean by water dip the motor

In this case you will want to gear lower to get up to speed sooner. This should get you to clear that jump.

I have been looking at the same motor. Are there any suggestions for non-Roar brushed motors? the p2k2 looks pretty good

I run a 20 tooth pinion. I Tried running the 18 tooth pinion but the result was not any better. I just think i need a motor with a little more pep. and if i gear too low, it will top out too quick on our long straight that we have at zoo city raceway.
