do you think the summit might be a little under power i think it needs just a little bit more power to get the top speed up a bit and get that big truck moving

yes, but I did not buy it for speed just bash and climb, for a little more speed I have the e-revo and for a little more speed read my sig:lol:

I don't think it is underpowered, just geared a little low. People use the 775 and get better performance in their Maxx's and Revos than the stock motors.

so what pinion would you refer for a little more top speed.

yep, just not enough zip to it, it feels heavy when i drive it, no wheelies and slow top speed, im kind of set on one truck to do it all, so if the summit is not fast enough; i must make it faster, but since it must do it all; it needs still be waterproof.

Well, I'm not quite sure. My dilemma is I would like a little faster top end in 2nd but slower in 1st for smoother crawling. I'm not sure what the stock pinion is but going up by one or two teeth would probably make a good difference.

it comes stock with 14-68. on first gear it's super slow with a lot of grip.

No, not at all.

I think a 17t would liven up the summit dramaticlly (Stock is 14t) I have been following this thread with interst.

If you read bjoehandley post on the end he mentions a 17t pinion and seems to be the only person experimenting with gearing the 775.

I believe the reason there are no wheelys may be poor batterys or a slipper doing its job properly. (if tightened it with good batteries it should lift the front wheels)

The Summit aint suppost to be some hyped up monster truck on steroids running from the cops because he is a mass murderer, ya know its part basher part rock crawler and that's it, you want it faster go and buy dual MMM and through them in with some 6S lipos if doable, and you'll have your speed DEMON!!!!!:D

Why not ???
You must understand that some summit owners are in it 90% for the bashing 10% crawling, I personally will never buy an e-maxx (I hate the idea of 8 shocks) and I would only want to buy big wheels and a truck body for an E-Revo (The summit has these things standard) and for the cost of a pinion why not extract an extra 5 - 10 MPH out of it get a bit more air of that jump or just clear that gap I have been trying to clear, The summit is what you want it to be and more isn't that the idea ??

so anybody knows how a 17t pinion would work on the summit?.

Yes i do. I love the Kershaw dual motor setup. If you want a noticeable speed increase, still be able to crawl, and want to maintain the waterproof capability, this is the setup for you. 99.00 bucks puts you in control of one sick summit. If you check my "Let the bling begin" post you'll see the setup for yourself.

I was very happy with the speed using 18/56 the motor gets a little warm but still is good. Now I got it 14/56 with a mamba monster 2650 combo and there is enough torque to pull a stump out of the ground :) trust me , I snapped all the spider gears and shafts connecting the spider gears in the front diff and one the the drive shafts connected to the rear diff all at once trying to do a double back flip

I've found that using the KD 700HO with 16/68 is just right. 1st gear is still able to do crawling without overheating the ESC or motor and 2nd gear get's it moving in a hurry.

The only issue I seem to be having is that the slipper won't let it wheelie in 2nd. Even tightened all the why down. Probably too tall a gearing for proper use, I bet if I went back to stock I could get it to do it. But why would I? 2nd gear is for the track and high speed runs, don't want the front wheels coming off the ground and unable to steer!

I run a 17t on mine with ***** 5000mah, it wheelies all day long. It probably gets close to 30mph and can still crawl. The motor gets a little warm, so I'll probably install a cooling fan. Couldn't be happier.

so your saying a 17t-68 would be alright just check engine temps once in a while, I run venoms 8.4 5000mah or will the truck burn up with this gearing.

I am no expert but I believe you Venom 8.4 5000mah packs would not out perform (have a higher voltage) a 5000mah LiPo's under load, even though their standby voltage is higher

so your saying I would have a little more top speed with the 17t yes I know the lipos are better but thats all I got for now.

Simple answer - yes

Not so simple answer

bjoehandley is happy to run 20t pinion off road and a 22t pinion on road on his erevo with a titan 775 and have a look at his videos with 20t that thing moves,

I realise the summit is heavier and has bigger tyres to turn but I think you should be hitting the same top speed as a stock E-revo easily with a 17t pinion and the stock 7" tall tyres.

With the stock gearing my Summit will wheelie with no problems when running 8000mAh LiPo's or good quality, 7-cell, matched Nimh packs. Sure it doesn't have the top speed of a race horse, but I knew that when I bought it. It does crawl however and quite well :) and the top speed is acceptable for playing around. The only mods I've made are; hard-wiring the motor, lowering the body about 1/4" and adding 1 turn of preload to all 4 shocks. Overall, I am very pleased with the truck. :D
