i was wondering...and by the way im new to electric so dont bash me! now i was wondering how to get more run time out of these mini's? say they run for 10 minutes with a stock battery how do i get run times around 20-30 min. if i wanted! i heard something about series and parallel dont know what that means! so any help or tips would be great thanks! :D

Aftermarket NiMH packs can be had, typically, in the range of 1500mAh. Which might give more run time. I say "might" because no one seems to know the capacity rating of the Traxxas packs. (The largest lithium polymer packs I've seen that will fit these trucks is 2200mAh.)

But for the sake of discussion, lets assume a 1500 pack will give you 5-10 minutes more run time over stock pack.
Since there are 2 battery compartments in these trucks, connected in parallel, identical packs will yield twice the capacity/run time of whatever you put in it.

Us folk that use Deans connectors would need something like this adapter (http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXNKY8&P=7). Note that all the -'s and +'s are connected to each other.

This is a series (http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXNKY9&P=ML) adapter. It connects all the cells in two packs together, end to end, just as if it were one gigantic pack, doubling the voltage. Follow the leads.....

Note that which ever configuration you chose, the two packs need to be identical in every way... including age.

hey =)

u will get 20 - 30 with 2 lipos in parallel (imho dont waste ur time with nimh or nicd packs, these are outdated (cant be charged immediatly after run or they die soon, to heavy compared to lipos) and yes they seem much cheaper then lipos but @ the end lipos are just better ;))

series -> doubles the voltage (example: 2 lipos with 7,4v in series 1500mah capacity-> 14,8 volt+1500mah)

parallel -> doubles the capacity (example: 2 lipos with 7,4v in parallel 1500mah capacity -> 7,4 volt+3000mah)

so my advice ->

for "racing(less power easier to drive for NON pros->faster ;))" or small backyard bashing get -> 2x2s lipos (7,4v1800mah~ its about the biggest capacity u will get with 2s @ that size atm)and run them parallel ->7,4v 3600mah

for wide open speedruns or if u want to impress ur friends get ->2x3s lipos (11,1v1300mah~ its about the biggest capacity u will get with 3s @ that size atm) and run them parallel -> 11,1v 2600mah

YES i know there will be ALOT other options like running 2s in series for 4s, run 2 nimh in series, people who do this hopefully know what they do ;) .... but the 2 options i listed will run 100% and make u happy if u are a beginner =)

get a DECENT charger for ur batteries !, dont save money on this or connectors ...

dont get nimh (heavy+cant be charged after running ur truck) or "cheap" lipos, invest into a popular brand, u wont regret !

yayayyaya bad english, its not my main bra´s

guys i think we will get alot more run time then 10-25 mins. I have a mini t with a BL set up and runnning a 1100ma 7.4v battary and i get aout 45-50 min run time. shouldnt this be about the same

depends on how u run the car/gearing(=heat)/surface(grass/asphalt...) .. i expect ~25 minute nonstop accelerate/brake action with 2x2s 1800 lipos.

my xray m18t has ~ half the weight of the revo and its 4wd ->25min nonstop action with 5400mamba-> revo vxl : double weight, but 2 batteries ~> same runtime ;)

mini-t is only 2wd -> less resistance from drivetrain + less resistance from only 2 wheels "trying" to get the power to the ground.

1100 gramm is pretty heavy ;), 1:10 touring cars -> 1500gramm and u can suck a 4500mah battery under 10 minutes with a 5kv+ brushless

heat (esc/motor/bearings/dampers/pretty much anything what gets warm ;))
drivetrain resistance (acc/brake rotating mass(axles wheels, anything that has rpm;))
accelerate+slowing down the mass/weight of vehicle

is what sucks up most of the batterys power ..

anyway, it will be a sick sick car =)

Your minit has a smaller motor than what comes with the new 1/16th Traxxas trucks..

Pick up 2 2s lipos, and have both a series, and parallel connector, so you can have fast speeds, and then tone it down with the parallel connector, and get double the runtimes. IMO, that will be the best combination for this beast. Both series and parallel connectors are avalible from traxxas, Part numbers #3063 and #3064.

yeah im just looking for around the 30 mph and long run times. im not worried about top speed i like to bash jump over sheds sling it across the road. that kinda stuff. will longer run time kill the motor though?

As long as its geared correctly for the intended use, then long run times shouldn't harm the motor at all. Its a good idea to keep an eye on the temps though, just in case.

My plan as well. 2x 2s 2000mAh lipos and both serial and parallel adapters.

That would be a great setup!
Nuts speed and good long runs...

Great info, what website do you get the series and parallel connectors

i'm a noob also and i got my mini used off ebay. i was excited for a min with the car running off two stock batteries for about 15-20mins, but i needed more so now i run two duratraxx 2000 mah lipos and i get more than 20-30 mins out of my car except when the car over heats and needs to cool off. after the motor cools off she running hard and heavy. finally ran the batteries dead for the 1st time since i had them. (got lipos 21/2 weeks ago)

If you get 2 3s lipos with a parallel connector it should hit about 40 minutes compared to stock being ten minutes, but I'm sure that it runs longer like that, stock
