I really doubt it will be half. I called my lhs today and they didn't know yet. Did you notice the "cost" thread? We figured about $200-300.

Cheap Guy
04-11-2009, 08:09 AM
The Radiocontrolzone thread had a lot of good comments. Someone mentioned somewhere that no way would the 1/16's cost the same as the 1/10's. But Traxxas has pretty much amortized the production costs of the Rustler since it's been in product quite a few years, in other words, it's probably cheap to make the Rustler, Stampede and Slash, versus the cost of making an all-new, 4wd, compact car. Plus, sometimes making things smaller actually cost more to produce.
Having said that, I guess we'll all have to wait and see what the actual SELLING price will be.

I read in the 09 rcca buyers guide that the e revo vxl will be $300 and 1/16 slash will be $200. Although i think they were reffering to the brushed 1/16 slash when they mentioned $200.

yea, most likely.

they were bill. and i think those numbers are rough estimates. the mantis txs is shown at like 700 when the truggy retails for 400.

yes, exactly, it is just MSRP, but when the actual truck comes out, the price is near half.

I think the prices will end up around $280.00 for the slash $300.00revo.The cost to the LHS is around 1/2 of retail.I wish it came with a 2.4.

lol, yea, alot of people are doing that. Some think that it's too expensive and don't care for it because of t price. But it is just how you are when it comes to minis and their price.

but 300 for a mini e-revo thats just crazy i under stand for the new molds and what not but i think they should go down the road like the e-revo and e-revo brushless but thats just my 2 cents

I wish it came with a 2.4.
Then the price tag would be $50+ more.
And why is everyone concerned about the price anyway, does it really matter how much they are?
Alot of people (including myself) over the past year wanted to see Traxxas make some minis and they finally did, so the price tag should be the last concern.

Another thing with the kits you mention is the fact that they all share major componets. That will keep costs down more than anything. As things progress and become the norm (brushlees systems, 2.4 radios, lipo batteries) we will see prices drop. The 'new tech' items in our hobby today will be old school big time in 5 years. Not to long ago 3000 mah was a top rated battery and now you can get them for under $30. People can complain all they want about Traxxas using AM radios in a lot of their kits but fact is that's how they get their products into so many peoples hands. While those radios are old school they do work very well for bashing and they keep the price down. Five years from now people will be asking what an AM radio is. In 5 years we will be buying batteries that are rated in hours rather than minutes concerning run times. It's hard to fathom people complaining over a battery that gives you 40 + min run times but that day will come.

Very well put. I believe that 5yr thing of battery hours. Sounds like it WILL happen. lol

It's here already. Your first over 1 hour battery is from maxamps. The 12,000HV has an average run time of 72 minutes. Add the battery expansion kt for around $7 and a lipo cut off and your 1/10 Slash will fly around for over an hour on that battery. Very expensive but like we all know as things get better in this hobby prices come down. Maxamps will have a battery line for the 1/16 Traxxas stuff. Lipo power is still new in rc and alot of people are afraid of lipo still. I was but the folks at maxamps got me past that and I love the run time I get from my 8000HV. It's pure heaven to still be flying around at over 45mph after 35 minutes of bashing.

Yes, it is still a young way of rc, and it is still developing..........fast. And sooner or later, there will be something and something great. And that does sound like fun Red!

Are you kidding me? I've been running lipo in my RC's for like 7-8yrs. Never had a single fire and only one puffed pack (maxamp). I would love to see 1100mah A123's fit. I love the under 10min charges
