Anyone want to take a guess as to what the price for the 1/16 E Revo will be? If I had to guess, I'd say around $400 since its going to be brushless. Any thoughts?

I would guess no higher than 300 , it may be brushless but its gonna be a VXL system , not saying thats bad its just Traxxas own system which I imagine will help keep cost down ....

If it's as over-engineered as everything else, It wouldn't suprise me to see them sell. Most scoff at traxxas (elsewhere) But there is some impressive things built into these trucks

I think they will be in the lower 200's....maybe 250.
why?
because of their competition. AE rc18, Losi mini lst2, mini quake, Trinity Next, Cen MG16, they are all sub 200.

The others are under 200 and some of them have a 2.4g radio.

I'd pay $250 for a brushless 1/16 e-revo in a heartbeat. However, seeing that I am from Canada, and the way the exchange rate is, I can see them being well over $300. :(

I would bet it's safe to say that it is definitely, 100% 4WD. Something that small, with that much power and only rwd would be a handful to say the least. My son has a worn out stock mini-t and even that thing can be tough to drive.

I think traxxas would offer this as a non-brushless version too, they would sell more of them, I hope, I just want something to drive indoors for the winter - 40+MPH is a little fast to run inside my work anyways. Look how good the xl-5 vehicles have done.

That was the box for the 1/16th Slayer...the 1/16th ERevo is VXL...

Hehe...VXL + 1/16th?...one powerful little monster...;)

For both of them it says there are 2 battery compartments that fit sub-c 6-cell batts....sounds like any RC18 spec battery would be fine.

Which means there are 3s lipos that'll fit...nice...2 3s lipos wired in parallel should be great performance and last pretty long...especially for the 1/18 - 1/16 class...

Traxxas...man...you're gonna get me in trouble again.

...wonder if my wife would appreciate a 1/16th for XMas...???

I read in RC Driver that these would hit in Feb '09 but Christmas would be better. I would guess the mini VXL will have low voltage detection. I will get both. I would imagine the E-Revo will run around $230. If they get it in at under $200 look out Traxxas will own the smaller scale scene to. People can come in here and blast on Traxxas all they want but at the end of the day we all know who is #1 in rc. Traxxas is #1 for a reason. It's amazing what they have brought out in 2008. It looks like 2009 is going to shine as well.

+1 if there under $200 im buying one im thinking right outa the factory $250-280 why because Traxxas vehicles are usually expensice off the factory line and will drop about $50 like they did with the other VXLs so maybe when every thing cools down 2-3 months later $230 ish..
Just a prediction.

I called traxxas today and asked how much they were going to cost. I was told that they will be right around $300. Thats a bargain in my opinion since you are getting a brushless e revo just roughly half the size. I might just get one of these and put the E Revo Brushless Edition on hold until my finances get a little better. I know that a pair of six cell packs will fit in these things, but any ideas on what type of lipos it will hold?

I know pi!

If it will hold 14.4v of nimh packs than it will also hold 14.8v of lipo. But to be honest, a truck that size on 4s lipo with a brushless motor would be more than a handful to drive.

Something like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/LOSI-LOSB9832-11-1-VOLT-1000-mAh-LiPo-RC18-RC18B-RC18R_W0QQitemZ270271386416QQcmdZViewItemQQptZRadi o_Control_Parts_Accessories?_trksid=p3286.m20.l111 6

RC18 lipos are in the six sub-c cell configuration, like Traxxas is using.

If it will hold 14.4v of nimh packs than it will also hold 14.8v of lipo. But to be honest, a truck that size on 4s lipo with a brushless motor would be more than a handful to drive.

Well as far as nimh I'd bet they're going to wire it in parallel, which would still be 7.2 volts instead of series (14.4v)...I say that because with the SUB-c cells they don't last nearly as long per run. mah is much lower...

However since you will be able to fit 2s and 3s lipos, you can wire them in parallel or series...depending on if you want longevity (7.4/11.1) or top end (14.8v or 22.2v)

Curious to see the specs of the VXL system...I'm sure it will be close to the current VXL system...so 3s max...so it's going to be wired in parallel.

Its gonna take an aftermarket esc to handle the 4s or 6s.

For those of you who haven't played with 1/16-1/18 scale brushless cars....get ready. Since they are smaller yet still have crazy BL power, they're a bit less stable as the heavier 1/10-1/8 cars. Alittle harder to handle once you're above 60mph.

From what I can see in that video, it looks wider than the usual mini class...and overall larger since it's 1/16th...looks like it could be the *easiest* 'mini' to drive once you get into the 'stupid high speed' class...

Finally Traxxas has answered with a mini vehicle lie-up. I am debating whether to turn my mini-t into brushless or wait for this to come out now!!! Is it pretty much in stone that they wont be out before February?

Redman65
11-18-2008, 08:46 PM
RC Driver said in Feb 09. If they hit by Cheistmas I'd be surprised. No pics on the Traxxas site and no listing at Tower Hobbies yet. It's crazy what Traxxas is cranking out and 09 looks to be another year full of not expected stuff from Traxxas. I want to see more on the 2.4 TQ radio. If I get my bonus Maxamps will get around $500-$600 for a set of their 6500 hard case lipo's and a good dual charger. If I have enough left I may jump on the E-Revo brushless to go with my Stampede and Ruslter VXL's. They keep coming with new stuff so fast it's hard to make up your mind. I take it the brushless setup in the 1/10 E-Revo has low voltage dection?

haha all I want for Christmas is to hit the lottery and by one of each. My wife wouldn't see me for weeks.

I called Traxxas again today for a little more info on the 1/16 e revo. The first thing I asked was if it will take one or two battery packs. The guy I talked to didn't seem too sure of himself, but he ended up saying that it will probably run on just one pack. That just seems a little strange, because the e revo chassis is designed to hold dual packs. Plus it would throw the balance of the truck off if there were only one pack. So I'm still a bit ify on that. Also, I did get a more definative answer on the price. He said between $275 and $300 depending on the dealer. Man, I'm getting one of these as soon as they hit the market. All the fun of full size, but hit won't hurt the pocket book as bad.

Sounds about right.

The closest thing to what the mini erevo currently:

RC18T...around $160-175...
Add a mamba brushless system...$125

That'd be $285-$300...however that gets you a smaller 1/18 truck that doesn't have a brushless ready drivetrain. That took me another $30 and it still isn't as tough as the usual Traxxas drivetrains...

I smell another success...gimmie, gimmie, gimmie.

Redman65

I have a mini LST2, not a fan of it. I like the size of it compared to the RC18 kits but mine has never held up very well. Took out the 2.4 radio and dropped it in my mini-t.

PhotoPunk

I've always liked the look of the LST2 but the performance isn't nearly what the RC18 is...and what I think the Mini ERevo can be...

The e-revo 1/16th scale is goig to be awsome. With a vxl, That thing is going to be a big hit. It is even half the price as a brushless e-revo. All the same features as a 1/10 scale one but cheaper!!! :D :) :D :) I just wish it came out befor christmas. :(

I can't justify spending $300+ on this one. My rustler VXL was $280 with a bigger motor and bigger ESC. I know that doesn't include a battery or charger. I know it's a REVO but not for $300+ atleast not for me at that price. $200-250 w/batteries & charger YES!!!!

Brushless Moose
02-11-2009, 06:38 PM
Yeah, but is your rustler VXL 4wd? Is it water PROOF?

l_kuczy
02-11-2009, 07:50 PM
Yeah,... I know it's not 4wd or water proof. Like I said for $300-350 maybe it's not 4 me. I don't have an indoor track close(or an outdoor for that matter). I was all excited back in Dec. when the first pics and vid came out. Now that I've seen it I'm not sure. If my neighbors get it then I will. We have VXL Rustlers that we race at this SWEET parking lot(newly paved and the island curbs have a slope to the concrete so no crashing just jumping) and 3 of of are getting ERBE's for around the house. It would be perfect for my kids so if it gets good reviews maybe I'll get some for them but they really want to start flying so well see.

Brushless Moose
02-11-2009, 08:18 PM
flying is a lot more expensive than the minis, especially when they crash.

another traxxas rep that I talked to said from $230-330 on the mini revo, and $110-$180 on the slater mini.

l_kuczy
02-11-2009, 08:44 PM
Flying is more expensive on average roughly $50-100 a month for me even without crashing. My wife likes the cars more as they save some money.

I got this email from traxxas..

Hello,

There is not much info yet. Certainly mot about tires or radios. The 1/16 scale trucks should be in US hobby shops sometime this spring. They are in the prototype stage right now so the final product has not yet been decided. They will probably cost around $200 for the brushed Slayer EX and around $300 for the brushless E-Revo 1/16.

RustlerRacer16
02-11-2009, 09:22 PM
300 is outrageous for a mini. Brushed or not. <_<

nascarcanada
02-11-2009, 09:49 PM
The way I look at it, is has all the same parts & labor involved as it's larger counterpart.
The only thing they are saving on is raw material.
$200 for the brushed, that is good, IMO.

So, that being said, maybe the 1\10 scale is too pricey !! :D

Brushless Moose
02-11-2009, 11:50 PM
I do think that $200 is a bit high for the mini slash.

I would buy at $150 for slash, and $250 for mini revo BL

NEW VIDEO (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XM0teqmpMI&feature=PlayList&p=58FA1B75AAF4B81D&index=0)

There is a new RCNet Video from R/C Car Action's Jason Sams at the Internation Toy Fair in Nurnberg, Germany.

some things from the video...

The name of the mini e-revo is called the E-Revo VXL

The new name for the Slayer EX is the Mini Slash 4WD

They will both come with a 6 Cell 7.2v mini pack and 27mhz RX/TX and that they will come with chargers (probably cheap wall chargers like the 18t/b/r/mt/losi minis

The Mini E-revo VXL can accept a 2S or 3S small lipo and that with a 3S lipo the mini e-revo vxl will do 40MPH out of the box

...and we already knew they were both water sealed

Also in the video they say that the 2 trucks at the Toy Fair are the world's first production versions and IMO that means we will be seeing them in the next month or two!!!! I CAN'T WAIT!!!

does the battery tray go across the whole chassis? or are there 2 trays.

Nard Cox
02-13-2009, 03:23 AM
That's one of the things that's still not clear to me. But my guess would be 2 trays! Why? Well if you look @ the first video they take the 'hood' of.
- There you can see that there's no space for a batterij pack since all the room is taking up by the motor, esc and servo's.
- Then you can get a peek (0:48) at the side of the truck where you can see the rather big box. This box has some clips on it just like the E-Revo. So my guess is that that's the spot were you put the battery.
- Since a battery on just one side will make the car unstable (especially such a small car) there will be another box like that on the left side of the truck.

40mph, huh. That's not slow, but I quess I was hoping for something a bit more ridiculous considering it's brushless and a mini. I'm not very educated on brushless systems and lipos, but most of the minis that I've seen with brushless systems go faster than that.

Nard Cox
02-14-2009, 10:26 AM

well i work in furniture and its like this if you go to the furniture store and look at the price of a sofa vs a love seat you might be surprised that they cost about the same because even though a love seat is smaller it takes about the same amount of raw materials to make as a sofa.

That happened to me at La-Z-Boy! They wanted $1400 for my couch and $1200 for the love seat, but at the time they were running a special that gave $200 off the couch. So they were charging the same price for the couch and the loveseat! I told my girlfriend "we should just get two couches" but she didnt think she would like the look  ....go figure!

So of course we have the couch, the love seat, and I got my la-Z-boy reclining chair (all I wanted). What a dumb waste the loveseat is.

300 is outrageous for a mini. Brushed or not. <_<

Easy enough to deal with that, dont buy one. Really for what you get its a descent price. The brushless e-revo is nearly $700, so the mini version is less than half the price.

But think of it this way, whats the only real 4wd mini Monster truck. The Mini LST2 which the price is $200 and brushed. Then you have to add $100 for a brushless system plus whatever you need to make that piece of junk durable.

$300 for a RTR brushless mini capable of 30mph out of the box and 50mph with lipo and designed to handle that without hundreds in modifications is a freakin steal.

Plus one thing is that traxxas has the msrp at $300, it will probably sell on sites like ultimatehobbies and amain for a little under that, plus consider that if you go with tower and they have the $60 coupon, you get it for $240.

sources have a preorder for around $280!!! $280 preorder!! woot getting mine. cant wait.

and as far as the batteries go..
if im not mistaken the batteries go in each side (2 trays) they sit under the frame just in front of the rear tires on each side, they are tucked under the bottom of the car. dual NiMH or lipos... woot~!~

There is now a whole section on the 1/16 scale cars, but you can get them cheaper than $280. My mini e-revo VXL was $239 shipped from towerhobbies with their $50 off $250 coupon. $289 - $50 + free shipping for members.

Yep MSRP is $330 says its waterproof but what about the ESC. I have 3 defferent VXLs and they all have broken Low voltage detection. Hope this esc is better. Also I guess Its why Max amps is making waterproof LIPOs.

Yeah I am a shill for towerhobbies ;)

$289.99 http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXWEP1**&P=ML

$50 off $250 coupon - 010Y8 (available to towerhobbies super saver members)

Then free shipping off order over $150, again to super saver members

Now lets do the math together...

$289.99 - $50.00 + free shipping = $239.99 shipped

They just started shipping them out today........... check the 1/16th forum for the first guy to prove their existance......... I'm sure somebody will have proof with a picture in the next day or two. You might be waiting a while if you just ordered from Tower, but they should be worth the wait.
