Contractors - please help!

OK, strange question. I'm doing a geometry project and have to design a city park. However, I need to find out exactly how much everything will cost.
One ton of asphalt is $137.75. So I need to know how many gallons of asphalt make up one ton! Does anyone actually know how much one gallon of it weighs? And how many square feet will one gallon cover if poured 3" deep? :eek:

all i know is concrete 1 yard is $75 and it will cover a 8' by 10' square at 4" thick, its 80 square feet.

Thanks! The project is due tomorrow (yes, I am a procrastinator). Those measurements should go for asphalt too.
